Cycle Shorts - Bib or regular?
I have been wearing the regular bike shorts but keep reading that the bib shorts are more comfortable. Anyone have any experience with them and if so, is there a particular brand that fits best? I'm 6'2" and 260 lbs.
Riding like crazy to get ready for a MS150 in September. If the bib shorts are better, I'd like to get a pair for the ride.

just came back from a ride with first pair of bibs......what a difference! i had a problem with chafing even with reg biking shorts......today with bibs......no chafing........must admit i also had a new saddle....brooks b17 ....don't know if that was the difference but even taking that into account, like the bibs better.

Not sure if they are better but I bought some and they should be here Monday. I will let you know how I like them after i try them out.

The thing I look forward to the most by wearing bibs is getting rid of the dreaded spandex waist roll.

Love bibs. I like the added coverage on the back. Bike shorts always seemed to slip down in the back. No more plumbers crack....

I just went on my first ride with a pair of bibs today, and I think they are a significant improvement, and worth the extra cost. Like a previous poster said, the waistband doesn't roll down for those of us with "love handles." I also find that when I get out of the saddle to pedal, things tend to move around a bit in regular shorts, but with bibs everything stayed put where it should.
I bought the cheapest bibs at the LBS - Cannondale Classic Bibs. They were $65. The next cheapest ones they had were Descente for $105. In retrospect I think I should have splurged on the Descentes - the Cannondales' lycra and chamois quality don't impress me. But they're still fine for 1-2 hour rides, I think.

I much prefer bibs. I have bibs from aerotech and pearl izzumi, and I have to admit I much prefer the pearls. For the price the aerotech's are really nice, but the pearls are cooler, breath better, and seem to be a little better constructed. The chamois also fits better but that probably varies alot person to person.

I like bibs for really long rides; never wear them for short rides.
Fit and the chamois determines what you like. Lots of good brands,
depends on what works for you. (Yeah, I know, real helpful)

Bibs. If you haven't tried that's the only reason you don't wear them

These are my favorite bibs. I am not intrested in trying any others....and you can get them around 100 bucks....I have ridden them 1000's of miles this year...
For the money they are the best bib out there in my opinion...

I used to ride with regular shorts all the time, tried bibs about 2 months ago, that's all I wear now, way better at staying up 
.
I got a pair of bibs from performance and two pair from nashbar, I think I give the nashbar bibs the slight edge, and they were only 49.00 and had everything from s to 3X.

I just got my first bib, a pearl izumi on sale at performancebike. Regular shorts seem... meh. You can't go back!
EDIT: Not a pearl izumi (I don't have that kinda money!) Oops. performancebike house brand bib. Very, very comfortable.
