New Bike, New sport

Hi,
I'm new to the forums, and generally, to the biking thing..
after a few posts, decided to take the plunge and buy a normal bike, not some x-mart rubbish.
Today i have ordered a custom Specialized HRXC ( custom paint " Grey Green ")
paid waay too much for it ( local pricing), so this will keep me commited for a while.
I must say the people here are amazing.
When i'll get my bike( tomorrow) i will put a bikeforums decal on it..take that LBD!

Anyway, this is an introduction of sorts..
will post pics when my RXC gets home..

Tom Stormcrowe 05-27-08 07:24 AM

Sweet, looking forward to the pics.

:D

Tom Stormcrowe 05-27-08 07:29 AM

By the way, I added you to the Clydesdale and Athena locater map.

Hoveroceros 05-27-08 12:25 PM

What do you mean by that?
How can i use it?

Tom Stormcrowe 05-27-08 12:44 PM

Just look for markers near you. :D As the map gets populated, it will eventually become a great resource, I think. :D

Is it worth adding the map to the FAQ/sticky thread or your sig? I'd not seen it before.

Feel free to add me - I'm in Canterbury in the UK.

SkippyX 05-28-08 07:06 AM

No doubt - the map is very cool. Over 59k views so far.

I wonder how many of them are other fat folk looking to drop some poundage? (My brethren)

Add me as well. I'm in Houston, TX, Just north of the 610 loop, just east of Ella. If you need more info, pm me.

Hey, Tom...

I posted my location a long time ago as Los Angeles. Can you change it to Santa Clarita, zip: 91351? A little more accurate.

Thanks.

Tom Stormcrowe 05-28-08 07:51 AM

Once I finish Tour de Cure and actually have some space in my sig.......that's a great idea. :D

Tom Stormcrowe 05-28-08 07:54 AM

Gotcha added

deburn 05-28-08 08:00 AM

Congrats on your new bike! I just got my new road bike myself!

How do you get a BF decal?

Me too - Newbie that is... what is a LBD???

Ohh and congrats!

Missbumble 05-28-08 10:46 AM

Hey - I think the map is awesome.THANK YOU FOR BUILDING THIS!!!!..but I am not so good with maps :)

How do I figure out who is in Atlanta...Do I just click on lots of placeholders.... Is there an easier way to see them?:twitchy:

Tom Stormcrowe 05-28-08 11:14 AM

Just click on the placeholders. I think you're the first Atlanta member, though. There are a few BF members outside the Clyde/Athena group around, like ModoVincere, who's a pretty good guy. He and I met up when I was down for Tour de Pike in March, down in Pike County, south of you.

Tom Stormcrowe 05-28-08 11:16 AM

LBD is an inside joke that's been floating around BF after a thread got started where "Load Bearing Decals" got bandied about. A member was getting teased that his bike was going to explode after he took the decals off of his suspension fork and this was because the decals were "load bearing". It was a great gag. :p

That is a sweeeeet looking bike. If the 21" frame is too big I'd be happy to send you my shipping address. :)

And, Tom, you can place me at Oxnard, CA 93035. Thanks.

Tom Stormcrowe 05-29-08 05:17 PM

Gotcha both. You'll both appear on page 2 of the indexed markers.

bdinger 05-29-08 05:53 PM

Wow, what a good looking bike!! Congrats, hope it rides as good as it looks.

Hoveroceros 05-30-08 12:00 AM

21 is huge to me because i have moved from a 15' FS x-mart bike..
Just waiting for my payday at the lbs to pick up a pump and some other goodies ( so that i'll be able to change the tires to my WTB slickasaurus)..
