A big accomplishment...
for me anyway. I live in a rural area and i usually cart my bike by car into town for two reasons: 1 i live on a paved 2 lane road with no shoulders and 2 im surrounded by huge hills. At 300lbs its tough to climb those bad boys. When i say tough i mean the small one is 28 degree angle. They have signs for trucks to let them know they will need their brakes. Its only about 5 tenths of a mile but i climbed that bad boy for the first time in 4 years today...i could not beleive it. Just wanted to share. Ill try and snap a pic of the hill.

Congratulations and welcome to your next paradigm.....
Great job! |
I am jealous of you. I dream of the ride back down that hill.

Dude, I am so very happy for you. I have been cycling on a road bike for a little over a year now and I just got to the point I am able to climb standing. I am so very happy for you bro. Rock on!

Nice work! Keep climbing it!

You probably mean that it's a 28% incline, but that's still one heck of a hill. The most I've ever tried around here was 21%, and I gave up on that halfway up! Keep up the good work!

Inclines are the real killers for us clydes..
you are winning against gravity.. Rock on! |
Here's the cool part. If you keep it up before you know it you'll be at the bottom of that hill thinking "remember when I used to think this was tough?"

Good job on overcoming that obstacle. Now you have to find another goal to accomplish.

You are right to be proud!
I have yet to attack any real hill, but hope to soon. Keep it up, RD |
Made it again today, and when i got to a local bike freidnly park they have a couple of 12 percent and lower climbs i usually shy away from and i hit all them too. I have always had massive leg muscles though from being a farmboy/football guy...lol. I cant wait until i shoot up that big grade and im not in the lowest number cogs front and back. I start out good but about half way down im banging gears and standing up. Im also doing this on a fat tired 26 incher. I want a roadie so bad.

Awesome job. It always feels great to conquer another obstacle. I have a new one I need to beat as well. I had to stop on on a hill (about 12 miles into a 30 mile ride) on Monday because I just ran out of gas. I had to get off my bike, take a drink or two, slow down my breathing and then finish the climb. The next time I try it, I am not going to let it beat me.
Keep up the good work. |
Too cool!
