Velocity Deep V owners
As I need a new tire, my last ride I picked up some debris that ended up cutting all the way through the casing pretty good on my Maxxis Xenith Hors Category. I decided to see what everyone else is riding and what level of difficulty they are to mount\dis-mount. I really like the Michelin Krylion's, but they are just a major PIA to get on and off.
I have found that the Maxxis tires are very easy to mount\dis-mount. I can almost take them off without using a tire tool and the Hors Categorie are much like the Krylion's ride wise, I like them a lot. I have also found the Bontrager Race Lite Hardcase a little more difficult, but much easier than the Michelin's. They have the wire bead, but would like to try the folding tire version to see how they go on as well.

After reading the other thread of fixing flats, I see several riders have problems with getting the tire off. I use V's with 23 Continentals, 25 Bonti Race Lites, and 23 Specialized S-Works. No problems at all. Half the time I get them of with no tire irons. Replacing the tire has never required tire irons in my case. But that's just me. I rely more on patience

I only had issues with the Michelin's, as they were just super super tight and I just did not want to deal with it on the road if I did not have to. Is the Bonti the foldable version?

I run Gatorskins on my Deep V's. I can't remember if they were hard to get on or off since I mounted them a couple years ago and haven't had to unmount them despite using them practically everyday (commuting, charity rides, organized rides, errands, alleycats, skipping, skidding, etc.). I should probably rotate my tires.

big fan of conti's.. The gators are great for puncture resistance.. I have found the 4000's to be the best of both worlds.. Light enough to make a difference but still good puncture resistance.. I have never had issues mounting any of the conti's. I use 700x23 tires..

You know me, I think you should stick with the Krylions.
I'm generally down on Bontrager stuff. My Specialized Armadillos solved my flat problems but I have the super heavy wire beads. The Kevlar beaded tires were not available and I hear they are expensive.

I did the ride this morning on the Maxxis Fuse tires that came with my CAAD and no flats. YEAAAAAAAAAA. Thanks for the info, that gives me some other directions to look in.

Yup, Bonti folding tire, no problem IMO. I don't care for Bonti tires, just using them no was training tires. I have a stack of stock tires I removed at purchase. I'm using them now cutting back on costs....I put the good stuff on the wife's bike!

To play off the title of this thread, I'm looking at getting a pair of 700c Deep V's, but have questions about what hubs and spoke (well the length and diameter-going for DT Swiss) I should get. Probably not the right part of BF to ask, but I don't venture away from home (this sub-forum) often.
These are the rims I'm thinking about getting
I have currently have a Trek 7.2FX with a Shimano RM60 rear hub and Matrix 750 rims. Basically the bike is "stock", I know I would have to replace the hubs, but would I have to replace the derailers, cog, cassette and shifters? Right now, the cassette is a SRAM PG830 11-30, 8 speed and the shifters are Shimano EF50, 8 speed.
Tom or any of the other mods, feel free to delete this if it's not in the right place.
