More Info needed for Planet Bike Cascadia

I bought a set of fenders at the lbs and I have to say, it was the worst purchase I ever made. What a hunk of crap, or hunks. I recently read a post by bdinger saying he put Planet Bike Fenders on his LHT and was wondering how he and others that have them like them........or NOT! I think I'd like to buy a set for my 7.5FX. The hell with wet roads....

-thanks

The Cascadia is what I have, and I have nothing to compare them to - but I think they're good. They've developed an annoying rattle at times, but I think they just need some tightening. Obviously very light cheap plastic, but they keep me dry - really dry - so that's all I really care about.

A buddy has some SKS fenders and they too are very nice. I have a SKS clip-on on the MTB, and it's great.

That's my limited experience! :D

I have a set of Planet Bike Freddy Fenders on my bike, they are basically a hard plastic with metal hardware,
they sometimes rattle a little, but they were cheap and do work very well.

thanks bdinger and Wogsterca....I think I'll get a pair. I've spent more money more foolishly. The set I have I bought from the lbs. No markings whatsoever and the cardboard I threw away a long time ago.

Just don't want to add to the 'crap' collection of parts.

I think I'll buy a pair, thanks!

But do they keep your toes and chain ring clean?

Full fenders (the only ones that are really useful), prevent splashing, where dirty water picked up from the road by the tires, covers much of the bike and lower parts of the rider. They don't prevent water from other sources, like the idiot in the SUV who just has to drive through that puddle at 40MPH covering everything within about 20' with dirty water. Including the folks at the bus stop, and the guy on the bike.

rattle I can deal with, wet shoes and chain ring I'd rather not.

My Cascadias are great. Today, for example, I rode in immediately following a full-on thunderstorm. Not much rain, but tons of water on the roads/MUPs. I arrived completely dry, aside from some sweat.

While some might say they look dorky, I totally dig them.
