Doing something right...

Sorry if I come off sounding self-absorbed, but I'm thrilled. I started at the end of the winter at 326lbs. This morning, the scale read 294.6lbs. I'm down 31lbs! 14 of those have come off just this week. Very weird, but I'll take what I can get! 275 now seems within my reach. I'm wearing my 2XL shirts again instead of the 3XL, and there is plenty of fabric to spare on them!

The odd thing is, I haven't been on the bike since Saturday (weather, conflict in schedule, etc). I have been doing much better about my diet though. Whoever said weight loss was 90% diet and 10% exercise was on to something. I'm sure I'll plateau soon and have to start working much harder for the results, but I'll take the easy pounds too.

I feel immeasurably better than I did a few months ago. Finally getting my sleep apnea treated was really the key to even being able to get off my duff. For anyone who suspects they may have it, don't let another day of your life get away from you. Do whatever you have to do to get started. It changed my life the very first night.

Congratulations on the weight loss!

However, 14 pounds in one week would concern me... Are you sure you aren't dehydrated?

My theory on a gift weight loss (like 14 pounds in one week) is to exercise the max for the next week and control eating to my very best. My goal would be to maintain as much of that weight loss, by taking action to drive it down....

Good point. But regardless, don't be discourtaged about the following week(s) if the results aren't there.

You simply can't lose 14 pounds of fat in a week, short of surgery. That would amount to around 7000 calories a day in energy. You can lose that much fluid, though.

I've been drinking tons of water, just not eating my normal 4500cal+ a day. I'm hitting somewhere around 2000, but I've been much more active at work lately as well.

I'm not going to try to get the math to disprove what the scale says. I'm just happy with it and continuing down the path.

you kow how it is.. dont expect the 14 lbs a week.
or worse yet if you gain some back ove the next week.. just kieepp doing the right thing.
