General question
Slightly over the cut off line for the Clydedales (about 215lbs), I have been trying to lose some lbs for the past few years. I hope with the re-introduction to cycling as well as chasing my 6 & 2 yrs old I can get south of that mark again. I just purchased a Giant FCR2 and here is my question.... the bike came standard with the pedal cages (I hope I am using the right terminology), while ridign my feet get a bit numb from being pushed so far forward. I am thinking about going to a Sidi Zeta (fat feet)/Keo Sprint set-up. Do you think this may help with that numbing feeling. Also, is it silly to put this type of a set-up on a fitness bike? The majority of my riding will be general commuting (trying to commit to riding to work 2X3 times a week).

On a hybrid commuter I'd go with a mtb set up. You could do some sidi mtb shoes and the Performance version of the crank bros. egg beater pedals. Actually, Tom just switched to this combo so you can ask him when he gets back in few days.

Go with a mountain pedal of some sort and shoes with recessed cleats. When you start commuting, you will be running errands on your way home and road shoes are trecherous to walk in. I also like egg beaters.
