    Warped Rim? Or mis-alligned brakes.

    I thought I went slower than I should, and I went tire shopping today! I noticed before and after I changed the rear tire my brake rubbed a little on the right side. However it only rubs on one part of the rim which is near the reflector. It only rubs slightly, but you can hear it when the tire rolls slowly. When the tire rolls fast you can see a slight wobble, or that the wheel isn't perfectly round.

    Is that a problem with the rim? Or a problem with the brake adjustment?

    Sounds like you should get your wheel trued up.

    Well if it rubs on teh rim brake surface then you should get it trued and TENSIONED or you're in for more trouble. There is more to just straightening the wheel. I tmust be retensioned to prope tension or the spokes will begin to break one by one. I fyou take it to a shop, insist taht they tension the spokes or they will straighten ONLY!

    Make sure it's the tim rubbing on the brake. Sometimes the tire itself will rub on the brake if the pad is not aligned properly. That is dangerous. Can cause a sidewall blowout and that's never good!

    Im gonna agree with the wheel truing AND TENSIONING. I do this myself, as I put down the money for the equipment last year. But, i personally have 3 useable bikes, and two other wheelsets for a bike that needs a frame (oops). Plus my girlfriends bike: 6 sets of wheels! So the <$100 i put into truing stand and tensionometer was more than worth it...for me.

    Not a bad idea to get brakes checked too, brakes are important!

    If you did a lot of trueing, maybe the dishing is off for the hub?

    Remove the offending reflector that is screwing with the spoke tension.
    Bikes use brakes to stop.

    If your bike has breaks, don't ride it.
