Something other than a tour

29.41 miles today with my friend Dan, riding from Audubon to just outside Manayunk on the Schuylkill River Trail and back. Average speed 11.94. Top sustained speed 15.5. Surprisingly, my average speed actually increased on the slight upgrade of the return trip. I don't know if it was being warmed up, or that I ride faster on a slight rise - or brake excessively on downhills. Probably all three.

Just wanted to show I can ride outside of commuting or a tour.

Glad to see the comeback road is getting more enjoyable.

I'm truly envious of your great trail system. Absolutely nothing of the like exists in North Texas.

Excellent!

I ride on that trail virtually every week!

I did have a question regarding riding on the roads around Phoenixville that I thought you might be able to help me with:

Sorry to read about the lack of a trail system in Texas. But at least you have bike lanes.... oh wait.....

I do have some adjustments to make to the bike. I feel the saddle is too low. I'm experiencing some pain in the front of my right knee, and I had a small cramp in my right hip. Now to find the height that works for both my right and my shorter left leg.

What are these "Bike Lanes" of which you speak? Is that the 4 inches of pavement between the stripe and the curb?

I know this might sound odd, but if you have a leg length difference, have you considered using one increment shorter crank arm on the shorter side, as in something like 170 on one side, 172.5 on the other?

No. It's better to find the 'sweet spot.' I had it until my saddle slid down a little.

Ah, didn't realize it was an elusive adjustment that was once in hand.

Sounds like time for the sharpie and 1/8th increments on the seat post with some saddle time. That's how I got rid of my knee pain and a lingering sensation of having a tumor in my left calf.

Those are sooo elusive. On my FX it took me almost a thousand miles to find it, but when I did I knew it. Then i sold it .

I've finally got it on the LHT, I think. Well I should say I had it before, then I had the sliding seatpost issue. I highly endorse the SUrly Constrictor clamp, or the Salsa... what do they call it.. oh I dunno . Great clamps though.

Finally.. welcome back! Great to read ride reports from you again .

I think we were pretty warmed up within just a couple of minutes of starting! Actually, I was pushing the pace a little to see how you would do, and you did just fine. Magnificent, actually. Just watch out though, one of these times I am going to release you brakes when you aren't looking. That'll get you used to downhill speed, hehehe. Kidding, bro, kidding. Maybe.
