New Bike!

Well I bought myself a new bike! It was a reward for reaching my weight loss goal, well almost. I am at 203 now, shooting for the 200 lb barrier but figured I was close enough.

I picked it up Monday And have put 48 miles on it so far. Trek 2.1, Look Keo clip less pedals and Izumi shoes. Man does this thing fly. This is my first road bike and I am surprised how much faster I am on this bike vs. the Trek 7.2 FX I have been riding. On my daily 20 mile loop I average 13.2 mph on the FX and on my two rides so far on the 2.1 my average speed is 15.7 mph!

Any way thanks to all here who have inspired me. In March of this year I was still 226 lbs and hadn't rode a bike since my teens. I have come a long way.

By the way, I experience my first 0 mph clip less crash this afternoon. I came to a stop at my garage, forgot to un clip and over I went. Thankfully everything came out unscathed except for a little scape on left brifter.

Joe

Nice! Tubes look similar to a Madone as far as shape.

Now you need to paint it blue to match the new ride.

I like the colors too! Congrats on the bike and on reaching your weight goal! Awesome!

I just stopped smoking. Today is Day 10. I havent figured out how to reward myself based on what milestones. Part of the problem is that I have little discipline: if I want something I buy it (within reason of course - well maybe my road bike was slightly more expensive than I'd planned - about twice as much )

10 days smoke free is good. Quiting smoking will probably be the hardest thing you ever do. It will also be the best thing you ever do! It will probably be a year before you really have it beat. I say reward yourself at 6 months, and get yourself really nice at a year!

Good luck and atay with it!
