July is over - How are yuo doing on your annual goals
 
So here is the monthly check in thread for how people are doing on their annual goals that people set way back in January.

July was an ok month for me in terms of my goals. I got the first of my targeted 3 full century rides out of the way (100 miles not metric). But my total milage for the month is a bit down when its taken out of the equation. I have a total of 356.2 miles for the month bringing my annual total to 1794.

That leaves only 216 miles to go to meet my annual goal of exceeding 2000 miles for the year. I should hit that some time in the second or third week of August depending on how many miles I get in over my vacation week.

My weight loss continues but it was hard to target my eating without the reminder of a scale. So I finally went out an purchased one. As soon as it was in the bathroom I started dropping weight again. I'm at 205.8 which means I have now lost 22.2 pounds for the year. I still need to stay on target with focusing on my eating habits (like that turkey sandwich I had tonight that I didn't need). But I could still meet my goal of dropping at least 40 pounds for the year (target weight 185). Still this is my goal for the year that I'm having the toughest time with these days.

So here it is:
Goal: Ride at least 2000 miles - 1794 as of July 31 90% complete
Goal: Ride 3 100 mile rides - Completed Mt. Davis Century - 1/3 complete
Goal: Lose at least 40 pounds (start weight 228) - 22.2 pounds loss 51.1% complete

How are you doing on your goals?

My mileage goal was 4k, I think I wanted my weight below 180, ride a close to 5 hour century, seriously cut down my beer intake. My mileage is only 1568 so far so I'm prolly gonna fall short of that 4k, In early January, I weighed 205-210 and am about 188 now. I'm averaging about 17.5 mph for 50 miles solo at present and will do a century in October. Hopefully I can get my speed up a little more before then. Beer continues to be "my little demon" and I will continue trying to reduce my intake . We still have 5 full months left so anything is possible.

When I got my bike 2 months ago my goal was to get in good enough shape to be able to ride it to work (10 miles one way) and to lose some weight. I really didn't have any other set goals.

Having said that, I'm coming up on 20 lbs of weight loss but I'm still 235 so have a ways to go. My blood pressure is down 5 points. I've put 780 miles on the bike so far and am averaging about 15 mph on my commute. I commute pretty much every day.

I do have some goals now:
Complete a metric century on August 23rd
Complete a regular century by the middle of October
2500 miles on the bike
Get down to 210/220
Get off the blood pressure meds

I have a ways to go but I do believe these goals to be reachable this year.

Well, the triple is definitely off the table for this year. I just lost too much training after the crash in May and the easy ride time I was able to get in.

I'm 454 miles below my projected annual goal for the year period, as well. :( I should be at 3000 miles. :(

Gina The Athena: 1862 miles year to date. Very likely she will meet her average 3,000 miles per year.

4,545 miles for the year. Pretty good pace for 7500.
Weighed in at 258 last night but I'm not getting my hopes up it could just be water fluctuation so I still might be 260+.. At least I'm under 270 where I believe I started the year.
Joined a Wednesday/Saturday social ride which is a slow pace but gets me out riding with a few folks and talking to people. I have one 200k under my belt and I may be attempting one tommorow in 105 degree heat! I might even go down and ride in a 6 or 12 hour time trial at the The Texas Time Trials. Not ready for a 24 hour or the 500 mile one unless I am on a team.

So far I have 1400 miles this year. Not too much, but not too bad either.

Just short of 2500 for the year. I need to pick it up if I'm going to meet my original goal of 5000.

I'll be happy with 4000 for the year, since I've had to take a bunch of time off the bike to help The Girl after her knee surgery.
Another original goal was the Century a Month, but after a harsh winter (for Seattle) I ditched that idea because I just don't like riding in the snow enough to do it for 100 miles. I will have 7 or 8 centuries for the year, (counting the double as 1, since it was a single day ride).

My biggest goal was doing the double, and I hit that goal last month.

For me, I am doing well.

My year started in the last week in May, when I started biking.

For the year: 680 miles
For July (from fitday)
Total: 301.87 miles Average: 18.87 miles Max: 29.22 miles Min: 5.75 miles Avg Weekly: 75.47 miles
My weightloss goals are on track-I am down over 17lbs, having started at 250, down under 233.
My diet goals are in line. I am eating better, quit the soda and chips, and average 1900 calories/day. I have a weight target of 210lbs by 12/1. I have been working to keep my required 'loss per week' under 1.5lbs, so that I don't need to over-push, and also so that the occasional cheat is allowed. Right now, I am holding steady at a 1.35 lbs/week requirement, and 23.5lbs left. I am averaging just about 2lbs/week total, and even more since I instituted my diet regimen 3 weeks ago.

I can't ride today, though, since the bike is in the shop, but I am on vacation, so I get to kick august off right!

I am a little over 4200 miles. Not quite where I'd want to be. I just need a big tour to make up lost mileage. July was ok. But, not riding the last two days, its over 90 degrees today. .. . not my kind of weather. Had it been a coupe degrees cooler,I'd been on the road.

I honestly have no idea how many miles I've put in this year. But I've lost weight which is good, but I'm 10# shy of 200# and not sure I'll ever get there (not in a bad way I'm 6'2"). My real goal for this summer is finishing the D2R2 a ride that starts in Deerfield, Massachusetts goes up into Vermont and back down. 109 miles, 70% of that on dirt roads, 11,000 cumulative feet of climbing. This will be my first century. As The Historian said "You don't do things by halves do you?" Wish me luck.

July huh, was a complete washout, literally, we had the wettest July since they started keeping records, usually with a thunderstorm thrown in for good measure, I don't mind a gentle rain, but a deluge with 80km/h winds, causing flooding, that's not riding weather. Then a non-riding injury kept me off the bike for 2 weeks, so the end of July should have seen me at 1500km for the year, I am currently just over half that, 301km behind last year. June wasn't great either, but I am so far behind now, that I have pretty much given up on the goal for this year..... There is no way to catch up now, the season is half gone, so unless I won the Lotto and could take early retirement, the chances of even catching last year, are getting slimmer. August isn't looking spectacular either, I'll try to get in a nice 16 km or so today, tomorrow is going to rain all day (thunder storms as well), and we are away on Sunday all day, so another weekend where I should be building distance is gone...... I think we have had like 2 dry weekends since the beginning of the year, and both times I had some do or another that made a long ride impossible.

I don't have a scale so I never really made any weight loss goals. I might pick one up and start that for next season but as for now I’m just trying to eat a bit better and ride the bike as much as possible.
My goals for the season were really just mileage goals my goal was 10,000 total miles for the 7 month season, and at least 5,000 of those to be on the fixed gear. Most of my rides are fairly long and almost always solo but I wanted to average at least 16 mph.
As far as right now I’ve logged a total of 6596 miles (I still have a week of rides to enter though so more like ~7300 total), and 5319 of them were on the fixed gear so I met that goal. Even with being off of the bike for almost a month I’m sure I can still get to over 10,000 for the season and it still seems possible to average over 16 mph but that might be rough since right now I’m at 15.76 (though I’m not sure how much that will go up once I log those missing miles). So yeah I guess I’m pretty much on par for all my season goals. I only count during the 7 month season that I ride regularly, since the bike I use on the trainer doesn't have a computer on it I’m really never sure how "far" I’ve gone.
I wasn't riding for around a month due to (long story, short) a MRSA infection (still went on the trainer but couldn't stay outside for long due to the sun exposure and the antibiotics I was on). But I think I can still hit my goals (I would only have to average ~250 miles per week from now through October to hit my goal total miles which is extremely attainable.)
And dahoss2002, I know what you mean about the beer intake, I have cut down but I still drink more than a person should. That's something I haven't really committed to changing though, mostly because I really don't want to. :lol:

Short version

Goal- 5000+ on fixed gear= complete
Goal- 10,000 total for the season= 65.96% complete
Goal- Average 16+ mph= current average is 15.76 so far, close.

At 2200 miles and down almost 50 pounds. No real goals other than to keep the mileage going up and the weight going down.

I hit bottom when I went public early in July with my thoughts about abandoning cycling. Since then things have improved. I'm riding again, and getting in shape, or at least better shape, for my second attempt at the GAP/C & O ride starting on the 16th.

With our new position in life one goal is assured. I put more miles on my bikes than our car.

Cycling is going great, although my July goal fell a little short. I ended up with 234 miles with a goal of 250. That gives me 1161 for the year toward a goal of 2000. Unfortunately, my weight loss while still progressing is slowing down even more. I lost 6 pounds in July to bring up to a total of 60 for the year. My goal for the year is to lose 104 pounds, and I am starting to slide behind a pace that will let me make that goal. I have not given up, but I have some catching up to do, and that is difficult.

I hear ya. I was out of the country for the first 6 months - total miles 0, total weight gain 25 pounds.

Since then, I have been commuting to work when I can (3 days a week average and hoping to increase that to 4) but I have not been out on a good weekend ride in a while.

Only other plus is I quit smoking so I am not winded easily any more.

I didn;t really have any goals for this year other than commuting more so I am at least doing that.

1. I'm still riding to work 3-5 days a week.
2. Gave up soda, caffeine and just about got beer beat.
3. Have lost 55 pounds since the beginning of the year.
4. Didn't let my near-death experience get me down or hold me back.
5. Haven't killed a customer at work yet.
6. Saving money for a house before Oct 1.


Continuation of goals:
Improve upon or maintain the items above.
