I need my fix

For a variety of reasons (meetings, appointments, and the nagging requirement that my employer has about me showing up to work on a daily basis), I've been off my bike since Saturday and won't be able to ride again until Thursday morning for my commute in. It's making me cranky. Coming on here and seeing all the bike/ride pics isn't helping my mood. I just want to go for a ride.

Anyone else get affected like this when they can't ride for a while?

I was going bonkers when I had to send my Madone in to Trek for 3 weeks... I ended up buying another bike to replace it.

I haven't ridden since last Wednesday, and you know what? I'm cool with that. I kind of overdid it, I think, plus had a health issue that made a beak logical.

I'm at the point know where the itch is coming back, but overall I'm good. It's been a good break.

I get irritated when I can't commute in to work because of weather or work commitments. I really enjoy my morning ride in. It just sets my day up right. The afternooner isn't as pleasant in this weather but I at least feel a sense of accomplishment when it is done and I know the cooler weather will be here eventually.

I can relate. After working my way up to averaging 100 miles a week for a couple of months, I did a total of 40 miles from early July to early August. July started with a 10 day camping trip, followed by a cold that didn't want to go away followed by a week at a lake. The vacations were great, the cold not so much but I was really ready to get back in the saddle when we returned home this past weekend. Rode 7 miles last night after work (definately lost some conditioning and gained some weight - guess I was eating like I do when I'm riding and burning calories). Decided to commute in to work today and it felt great. Doubt I'll be doing a 100 mile week for a while but that's OK. I'll get back there soon enough.
