Anybody ever notice.....
how easily that a short car trip ends up as a much longer bicycle trip?
Had to drop some stuff at the used clothing box, and pick up a container of milk, in the car the total trip would be 2.5km, straight there and straight back. On the bicycle, I lashed the bag of stuff for the clothing box to the rack, and off I went, ended up going nearly 15km

Gotta do the extra 'cuz it feels soooo good!
You don't even get warmed up properly with the short ride.

What I've noticed is that my commute to work usually takes me in the neighborhood of 30 minutes by car, and only 15 minutes longer by bike. Amazing.

My commute, if I count walking to the subway station and then from the subway to work, takes 45 minutes. On the bike it's an hour door-to-door.

Along the same lines; do you find yourself lying to yourself. Telling yourself "Oh, I'll turn around at the next street" or "I'll take the shortcut home", but you keep going

The thing I've found myself doing recently is nearly getting home then extending the ride an extra couple of miles round some local roads. Sometimes more than once...
