Ride 33 - Macc One Love Metric Century
My 2nd charity ride - what fun. Ride 20 was my first where I rode in the Covington Century which was very hot - and I rode 50 miles about an avg 12.4 min mile.
This ride was much smaller (number of people wise) and started off cooler...70s but then hit 90s about midway in. It was fun - an incredible accomplishment, but it was tougher than I imagined. Last week my rides were so awesome...so I thought man I got this nailed. Well..... I went with a friend and her hubby (see photos - he looks like mine in one of the photos, but I assure you the Bee is still single, for now). Anyway my friend just pleasantly rides up, down whatever, happy camper. She is really quite a powerful rider. It just alll looks so easy as she sails up the hills. I think my time for the ride was faster than Covington because I was riding with her - and I have been riding a lot and getting smaller and maybe dare I say faster? (It's relative.... y'all know I am not speedy gonzales, nor am I skiny minny...but gosh I fell like both!)
OK so pictures are attached. The group is the riding club I am in called C4 (Covington Conyers - met them on the covington ride and have been riding with them on Saturdays which is how I met my ride partner, Carol for this ride). Anyway - the group may have ridden together and done the 100, but Carol, her hubby Richard and I did the 60 miler.
Anyway - towards the middle to end - back was bothering me - all that bending...and my right foot hurts - but I kept going and going. ooh wait - at one point one of those speedy 100 miler guys blew buy me at the 50 mile mark...and I drafted for a few miles. He was working out a cramp - and gave me a chance to suck his wheel. I rode fast - and was able to draft even up some small inclines. It was like a gift from above....Just what I needed at the time to cheer me up. Whoosh 20+mph on flats...that was fun! I can only imagine what riding behind someone all the time would be like. Sweeeet.
(61.10 Miles, 4 hours 27 minutes 6 seconds Approx 13.7 mph avg where as the Covington ride my 50 miles was at an avg of 12.4mph)
I am the one in pink.

GREAT JOB MISS B !!!!!!
I knew you could do it after reading all your ride report as of late. I did my first metric a few weeks ago, and know what a real accomplishment it is. Now, on to a real century !!!!!!
