I have put thinking about putting a smaller tire on my LHT. Stock, it comes with a 700 x 37 Contential Contact. I have a pair of a Panaracer Pasela TG in 700 x 35 that I bought on Nashbar for 9.75 ea some time ago. I have been thinking about sticking those on my Long Haul Trucker, but am wondering if they will make much of a difference at 35mm vs 37mm. I would like to order the Pasela TG in 700 x 28, but they seem to be all but impossible to find atm.

Do you guys think going from 37mm to 35mm would make much of a difference in bike performance, and what do you guys suggest for a tough, fast, puncture resistant tire suitable to clydes at around roughly 28mm. I know the Armadillos popular but also quite heavy. I commute daily, ride recreationally often, and plan doing some touring. For heavier touring I would probably switch back to the Pasela TGs in 35mm or the Contential Contacts in 37mm.

I use Panaracer Pasela TG 32c folding. It's nice compromise between this and that. It's big enough that it rides like a big tire. But it's light enough that it doesn't feel like a big tire.

The Paselas run a bit small, if yours is older it's real size is prob 32c. Since you have it already, throw it on and see what you think.

I'm still kinda a noob, but I realy like the Vittoria Randoneer (I think that's the name) 700x32 tires that came stock on my bike. they ride real smooth, have reflictive sidewalls, and I've ridden over some nasty gravel, glass, and all kinds of crud in a construction zone while commuting and have yet to flat. I better go knock on wood now! Probably get two flats tomorrow just for bragging......

I put on the Pasellas a few weeks ago. Was a good opportunity to learn how to change a tire and tube. But I am noticing little or no difference in the ride what-so-ever. The tan side walls give my bike a very classy retro look, though!
