I know he is doing everything for cancer awareness, but I hope people don't expect him to do too much.

Lance has made it a point to do races throughout the season all gearing towards his TDF prep.. This year should be no different than any of the last 7 seasons where he has raced..

My post was nothing more than a post saying he is planning on doing it for cancer awareness. He didn't say anything about winning. I am not a doubter and after re-reading my post it doesn't sound that way.

He did say "Of course, I want to win an eight Tour de France, but my primary goal is cancer awareness". So while he wants to make people aware of cancer, he did start his sentence by saying he wants to win the tour. Lance is an ultra competitive person. Anyone who doesnt think some of this is at least a little bit ego is wrong. Im sure most of it is the cancer awareness, but you cant do something like this if you dont feel youll be at least very competitive.

The only way Lance will be competitive is if he dopes. He can't risk losing his reputation, lucrative endorsement contracts, and the inevitable Armstrong bike brand thru Trek. So he won't dope, and he won't win.

Whether or not he can win will depend as much on the strength of his team as it depends on him. If his team members get dropped by stage 12, he won't have a chance, doping or not. At least 3 or 4 team members have to be able to help him all the way to stage 20. Same as true for any other featured rider on any team.

At 12:15AM April 21, 2008 my 18 year old son lost his fight with the same cancer that Lance had.

I'm backing Lance.
