Any Clydes/Athenas in Portland, OR?

I'll be visiting your amazing city for a week in the middle of December (12/11 - 12/16). I'm planning on bringing my wet weather gear and renting a bike so I can do as much riding as possible in between job interviews. My wife and I are planning to relocate there ASAP after the holidays.

If anyone would be willing to meet for a ride, grab a bite to eat, or just offer me some advice by email about places to check out or routes to take, I'd be very grateful. I want to make the most of this trip to get to know the city better, having visited it twice in the past few years.

Scott

PS - I'll be posting something similar in the PNW forum in the next week or so, but thought I'd start here since I consider this my "home" forum.

Well, I'm 215-ish on a good day, but I dunno- you want to ride with me?

There's plenty of riders of all stripes in & around Portland. There's even two recumbent clubs!

A couple years ago they added Clydesdale classes to the 'cross races:

Here's the results from a recent 'cross Clydesdale race:

The BikePortland site and forums are good places to start getting informed about the local scene.

FWIW: this is not a Clydesdale, I think:

Definitely, Jeff - 'bents are cool in my book.

I'll send you a PM shortly with my email address.

Thanks for the BikePortland site recommendation. I've been reading the blog for some time and it's helped reinforce my motivation for making the move.
