Whoohoo Windy ride (Sunday pics)
Changed up the tires on the tandem so I wanted to test ride it to see if there is a difference. Forecast called for 50 mph gusts. I don't think it was that bad but Gina had no quarrel with riding the tandem. I must say she did quite well. Not once did she fall out of my draft!
Water at the coast was violent and the sand was a blowin'. Nothing like the feeling of a good sandblasting! We did manage to squeeze out a 16 average for the 42 miler!
Didn't see hardly any riders at all today. Where was everybody?
Gina's hair doing the Bug-A-Loo while the palm trees did the Cha-Cha!
Violent water and sand

I was on SGRT today. Started at Liberty Park in Cerritos; rode up to Imperial and Clark to check on the still-under-construction Columbia Memorial Science Center over on the west side of the old Rockwell Space Division site. Then back over to SGRT and north to between Ramona Blvd and Los Angeles St, then back through a very nasty headwind down to Florence, where I used the freeway and buildings to block the wind and rode down Studebaker back to the park, with a short stop at Pat's 605 to get the rear brake cable replaced. Pics are still in the camera.
I'm pooped.

Yup! I sarted riding in 94'ish. Gina started in 96'ish. We bought the tandem in 98. Didn't touch any of the other bikes for about a year we had so much fun! Done 4 centuries on the thing!
This was last week. Haven't done too much riding on it the last 3 years but Gina mentioned that she missed riding it, so I took it out!

I was laughing about it today cause there was a little 6 year old gal riding with her daddy on the trail today. She was riding against the wind and doing well. Daddy on a nice roadie and the lil gal on a really nice itty bitty roadie.
Good idea using the wind barrier. I once was dong an all out training ride with a bud. He was killing me till we hit a very windy straigh flat section. I moved over to the side of the road then used the hedges as a wind barrier. I blew by him like he was standing still. After punishing me for 50 miles on a hilly course, he was demoralized and gave up!....He thought I just had some left in the tank. Well, he still can't figure out how I did it and I aint telling!
I did learn something from watching tour De France videos!

Very cool, I don't know if I could ever talk my better half into a tandem..... Would have to borrow one for a ride somewhere!
