This week's goals are the same as before - portion control, limit snacks, more water and more exercise.

Gotta question for ya, how many weeks are you going to do? In order to pick a true winner, there needs to be a completion week, so that all involved, and those in the, studio audience (like me) know when the contestants need to start ramping up to win....

That's a good question. I figured there would be an end to this at week 5 or week 10 and then start over again. That would give folks a chance to start fresh.

OTOH, I hit a major goal today! I've lost 50 pounds now

218 this morning. Getting stronger as shirts and pants get tighter, but not losing any weight on the scale.

Goals:
1) Finish 8th week of sixteen week powerlifting program (four individual workouts by Sunday)
2) Fours hours in the saddle (at least one outside???)
3) No more eating after evening workouts (recovery shakes excepted).

Congrats Joel onthe 50 pounds...so I think minimum of 16 weeks... and max til Sue's thin!! I think on the Biggest loser it's about 16 weeks. I think we need a long time so it's enough time ot make a big transformation.

I think it's about all of us continuing to show up - set goals and be on the right path. Though you and others may be reaching your goals - life does not change that much. It's still about showing up and making the right choices. Whether maintaining or losing. So - personally my vote is we continue for a while! Get everyone o have a great habit - and continue to show up be hoenest and take stock. I am really really grateful for everyone being here on the Biggest loser Thread..adn I am just one voice... so let me all know if you have other ideas. But I say minimum 16 weeks...max til I am thin

By my current calculations, I should be down to 8% body fat in just about 30 weeks. This, of course, assumes that my weight loss weight will remain constant. If that were actually true, I don't know what I'd do (other than be completely ecstatic!).

Time for some truth =- o maybe a plea for support. This week the food has not been stellar. Not too too bad - but not my usual salad for lunch and subway for dinner....ere go... I hopped on the scale and my weight is up a few pounds. I have been heeding advice - and not working out with a pretty deep cough. Usually I hit the treadmill for 40 minutes of hills and walking - fast! Quite a workout. Now pffft nothing.

Today I think I could say screw it and go do a workout - but I wake up with a headache/migraine (no real nausea like Mr Beanz- but a bad headache- soI am not working out... and still have the cough). Anyhoo just had diet toast and 2 eggs and watermelon and will go light on the food today and drink a ton of water.

Anyway - just popping in to say it's been a hard week...not going to be the Biggest Loser this week...but I am going to continue on as I am in this for the long haul and as a way of life. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and cold here - so if I were to decide to jump back on the bike...It might be a lousy day to do so..

OK- The bee is off.....Thanks for listening to me ramble on... How's everyone doing? Need some good stories! Also anyone who has not been around come on back and weigh in and join us....

Kee working Bee. I had a bad couple weeks (no real loss), got bummed. Then I had a really good work out, the amazing support of Future Spouse, and have kept the hammer down this week, and am doing better already.

There will be bad weeks. You're not a monk, you shouldn't live a life devoid of pleasures, and sometimes it will cost you in the weight loss department. As long as the long-term progress is in the right direction, I don't see how a bad week is much different from a heavy day. You'll get over your cough, get back to exercise, and still be lighter than you were when this contest started. Just don't stress about this, it will be fine.

Seriously, if we keep up generally robust exercise and moderately sane dietary restrictions, we will shed weight over time. Maybe not as fast as if we are strict, but so what?

It's the long term trend that matters, not any particular weigh-in.

Last Chance Workout

So here on the Big loser Campus - what is your Last Chance Workout? For me - with this cough still hanging on... Did my one and only workout for the week - I went to Spinning Class. I was able to sweat - I think my usual treadmill workout is still more intense - which means I can not push myself yet hard enough on the bike to equal the uphill and intervills I get on the treadmill with my training Ipod workout (www.itrain.com) but I know I need to keep cycling so I can be able to ride outside when I am better or when it get s warmer - so I have decided to do spinning on the weekends (if not on the bike).

Anyway-After two weeks it felt good to be sweating! Only a 55 minute class or so... but it was better than nada! OK Last Chance Workout...How is your Sunday going? Wait first go grab some more water...now sit down and tell the Bee and everyone all about your last chance workout/ride?

Remember to post your Monday weigh ins on this thread and your goals on the new thres (Week 8!!YAY US!)

Errr, I dunno about last chance, it sounds so cataclysmic. I always go to the gym on sundays during football season, do my weights and core training, then run for 30 minutes, and do an hour of elliptical. Having a football game (even if I'm not a huge fan) as a distraction makes it not so bad.

Is it too late to get in on this? I need to be working out with you folks. Current weightis about 250, but I started out at about 256 about a month ago. I'm looking to lose 5 lbs. a month until I get back to my old riding weight of 170-180. I'm 57 years old, and it's now or never.

PS check out my screen name! :-)

Hey Gordo - I do not like your screen name.. It seeems limiting. What if we call you Skinny Cyclist?? Then you could shrink into it!! Welcome aboard. :WELCOME:Weigh in here tomorrow... and then watch for the thread for week 8 and post your goals. OK??

Be gentle with yourself...make some life style changes and whoosh you will drop the pounds!

OK I'm in.

I'm newer to the forum and have been riding for the last 6 months. I started the year at 348 lbs* (largest in my life) and terribly degrading health. I am a disabled vet with damaged discs in my neck and lower back, a severed ACL in my right knee that has needed to have surgery for the last 8yrs or more, and degenerative joint issues (soft tissues deteriorating at a accelerated rate- shrank an inch over the last decade). I live daily in pain which leads to depression and issues with my PTSD.

^^^so there's the list of excuses I have used to allow my health and well being to deteriorate so much for so long.

Good news, I'm done with the excuses!

I just set up the trainer in the last week and I am getting ready to go spin for 30 mins or so. I will weigh in tomorrow and post goals for next week in the new thread. If I missed something or am not doing the goals/weigh ins right feel free to let me know.

Happy to be able to have others to help motivate each other. Thank you everyone!

peace

-w00die

*edit - forgot to mention my weight is down to the 303 -305 range now.

Definitely! I was up to 20-25 mile rides until the weather started to turn and I let that be an excuse. So I do have some ideas on my limits. I did 33 mins (that +10% ya know) on the trainer. I adjusted the seat position some and it felt good. It will take some getting use to, the sounds of the trainer are odd to me right now. I'm going to focus on regularly using the trainer for a few weeks and then I will start working on specific spinning techniques. Thanks for the reply and encouragement.
