Winter Training Schedule

Winter Training Schedule

I've got to post now and then in the Clydes' forum, being a true clyde and all that. I hope I am not repeating a recent thread here. If I am, I apologize and please give me a link. Thanks. (Being 69, I normally hang out in the 50+ forum).

Here is my typical winter training when I don't get out for long rides. This would be about 5 days per week. What's yours?

I've been biking to the rec center - just a mile, temps about 26-32 F., 5:30 am
Spin class 45 minutes
Swim 45 minutes
Good stretching
Work out in weight room anout 30-45 minutes
Bike back home

And on certain days I will add or substitute a 3 mile walk to/for bicycling.

Of course, when I can, I'll do 20-30 mile ride.

What about the rest of you? Whatcha doing?

I try to swim a mile a day, bike on my rollers for 20 miles, and then on every other day, I am planning on running. Not sure the distance, it will depend upon my legs. I have a 5 mile Turkey Trot to do, and I am not ready for it.

I am planning on a roller century once a month until the weather improves. Currently rain/sleet/snow, and 23c's are not good for that type of crap.

I'm heading for my first "sprint triathlon" next September. As I don't run any more, I will power walk the run portion.

Just want to finish!

I just get the standard ones available at the front desk of the rec center for $6.00 - which work fine for me. Sorry, I can't helo, perhaps someone else.

My winter riding plan is this: on weekdays when I don't ride, I will pull out my 16 and 24 kg kettlebells or my 80 lb sandbag (to be precise, that's 80 lbs of aquarium gravel - no dust) and head outdoors, rain, snow, whatever, to train. I am tired of these weights taunting me from under my desk at work.

Mon.. row
Tues.. trainer or ride outside
Wed.. Gym, upper body
Thur.. off or a long walk
Fri.. row or ride
Sat.. gym, lower body
Sun.. off

I am trying to work up the motivation to go on a periodised plan that would
build up to several hours a week of aerobic exercise.

It depends upon your head. Honestly!!!

I have owned different brands, and the best thing I have are three year old that aren't made any more by Dolfino. Go to a swimming store and try them on and talk to the owner about your problem. They may give you a better idea. I don't like speedo brand for my swimming.
