Whatever It Take To Keep Her Riding!

My philosophy is do whatever it takes to keep her happy while riding. Her bike is a $3000 bike, mine is $1,000. Her jerseys $80, mine $29.99. Her shorts $80, mine $40. Her helmet $140, mine $49 and so on!
Today on our ride she says her tights are bugging her,. They keep twisting at the knees. Then she says she wonders if mine would feel better on her.Dam! Handing over my new Pearl Izumi tights!..Oh weel, she's riding, got 3600 miles so far this year!

Look at her smiling all comfy in my tights!

I'm not sure but they just might look better on her than they do on me!

Could not resist laughing when I read that. Hey, when it comes to bikes and gear whatever it takes.

I found it distasteful, to tell the truth. There's far too much commentary in this forum that's borderline sexist for my taste -- or all the way over the line. I suppose it comes of having a huge majority of males posting, but I still don't like it.

I'm with you. I just finished upgrading my wife's bike to Ultegra brifters and 10 speed drive.

Mine remains 105.

Look, you didn't have to read it or even reply to the post if you found it distasteful. I am so sick of walking on eggshells around political correctness. The emoticons denotes that it was all in fun. I am sure the OP did not take it the way you did. I am sorry if you found it distasteful, but that will not stop others from enjoying the forum and poking a little fun. Get yourself some decaf. Geeez.

Right, well, that's about the level of response I would have predicted in this forum. You know what, gapwedge and others? I am sick of walking on eggshells in this stupid boys' club where you all can toss out all the sexist innuendos and comments you want, but nobody can say anything about them without being greeted with this sort of defensive, abusive, insulting, dishonest crap. Tom Stormcrow, you owe it to bikeforums to put a big fat label on your forum saying "BOYS CLUB -- BOOB JOKES AND SEXIST INSULTS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED, CRITICISM OF SAME NOT ALLOWED". It's your hypocrisy, so for god's sake own it!

If you're hanging with guys, expect that they will behave like guys. And frankly, women aren't any better.

And given a choice, I'll take the other gender's boob jokes and sexist insults over the snarky carp that my own gender calls "conversation."

Merry Christmas bat. Boob jokes?? Just to file this information for your future use, married men tease each other (not about their wives) about being hen pecked all the time. If you cannot see that for what it is (meaningless banter) then I suggest you change hobbies. For the live of me I cannot understand your agenda. I think a 50 miler about now would do you good. Enjoy the Holidays.

Things get so confrontational so fast sometimes. I did not see any of it as sexist, but could see how someone else could read it that way. As for the opinion that the wife being extra-particular and expensive being sexist? I know couples where the GUY is the one that spends all the extra cash on stuff like that. The wife gets the basic car, clothes, etc.; while the guy is the one that has a shiny sports/luxury car, lavish suits and clothes, and is the one that "can't live without" a custom-made bicycle frame with the bike eventually costing more than a decent used car (not to mention the full team kit, top-of-the-line bib shorts only, etc.).

Here is anther revelation for you: most guys have a visual fixation...thing. What a shocker! Talking about visual appreciation for the love of your life, is a lot different than completely objectifying a person. My opinion.

I don't see any problem in getting her the gear either, if it keeps her riding. The same thing goes for any guy. If it makes a big enough difference to keep you in the saddle longer, then it is a good thing.

I think we should all be going after Mr Beanz here. I mean he is promoting giving ones spouse better equipment then one uses themselves. That sounds like something my Father's Father would have taught him (and incidently taught me but I digress).

I think the guys who buy the beach cruisers for their wives and then go out and spend a good 6-7K on a bike to ride with her and the kids and complain about them not keeping up have the right idea. Hey I'm sick of my wife passing me on the hills ok?

Of course the correct thing to say is you should buy a 2k bike for her and a 2k bike for you. Oops sorry my job in AA/EEO is creaping into my bike forum posts

There was nothing sexist about the joke. If the OP had been a woman saying the same things about her man the whipped joke would have been just as funny. Its funny because the OP is surrendering all the good stuff to her, and it doesn't matter if its a her, him, or it.

I guess it was also sexist that the OP thinks his new tights may look better on HER than they did on HIM.

Anyway, good job Mr. Beanz. Keeping her on the road helps you stay on the road. Of course, I'm sure also have to use extra butter.

I am female. I did not think the post was sexist.

I am trying to figure out how to PM Mrs. Beanz to get some tips on obtaining schwag from the menfolk with the excuse "it will make me like cycling more".

I hear sexist, anti-male comments from women all the time. In fact I have to put up with my gender being mocked on a daily basis on television in ways more demeaning than the original comment. So really, since I don't see you standing up to object when you see a commercial portraying a husband as inept at housework, don't see you pushing toward any specific redefinition of mens' roles, don't see you standing up to women who expect their mate to be more wealthy and successful than they are, I think I can be annoyed at the virulence and petulance of your self-justifying outburst there. Do you really want some guys reacting like that to commentary on womens' posts? Because guys put up with enough sexist BS without having someone blow up in a fit of outrage because some guy was spending extra effort to be good to his mate.

Meh! It's just Little Brown Bat's way of attacking me after lastweek's post of me telling her that if she had nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all. Same post I mentioned that it's easier to criticize others that take the effort to start threads here. I'm still waiting for her to start one to see what I can come up with to whine about!...By the way Bat, you do write very well. YOu should use some of that talent and effort to create a thread

As far as boobs and butts, I've seen other athenas post pics of mens butts. I didn't say a thing and I didn't hear the Whiney Little Bat back then either!

If it makes her feel better, I'l post a pic of my butt for her!

Hey, after 20 years with Gina and I'm still thrilled? I still think she's sexy, errr or is that poilitically incorrect to say?

No need to resort to drastic measures 'Beanz'......

.....think of the 'collateral damage'.

That said, I dont give a rat's posterior if its politically correct or not. I think its great you have a sweet wife that rides with you and that you have 20-years together.
