DFW Area C&A Rides

OK folks, I realize this might belong in the Texas regional forum, but the intended audience and participants are here.

Let's try and set up a recurring monthly ride. It can be on location rotation so we can get folks from different area as well as have a vaired riding area.

I know for myself and JTGYK, Sunday mornings work best due to work schedules, but I'm also available on Saturdays as well. Well, most Saturdays.

I will throw out either the first or third Sat/Sun of the month to get us started.

What say ye?

Yea, I can't speak for everyone else but all of my rides are solo. Granted, it's because I ride and sleep when most everyone else is at work, but it is what it is.

Riding with others is a great way to boost mileage, and meet new people.

I'm good with the 3rd sunday as well. That way we don't miss January because no one has time to plan. I'm also out of town the next weekend.......

I'll be there with bells on... and non-Clyde hubby in tow if that's ok... when we can. We have to pick up my step-daughter every 1st, 3rd and 5th weekend so it just depends on how the schedule falls.

Thanks for getting this up and posted Txvintage!
I had the misfortune of being shackled to my library job today (should have been my day off) and got to miss this amazing weather.

A 3rd Sunday ride is fine by me!

So, third Sunday sounds like a go.

Now we need a time, say 9:00 AM, and maybe 8:00 AM when the temps start getting into the warmer ranges?

Ugh, routes, we need routes.

Do we went easy-ish beginnery stuff...or more challengy roadish stuff?
Maybe we should just mix and match.
I don't mind grabbing on to some of the other clubs routes on days they're not riding them and doing some at a clyde friendly pace.
OR
If Anyone has a favorite route they'd like to share.........
As long as we can get coffee after, when it's cold out, I'm good!

I think It'd be good to have a mix of bike trails and riding on roads.

I think an easy to moderate ride is best. I personally would rather have an inclusive ride that is a bit of a social happening as well and a chance for everyone to get some practice rising ina group. Certainly a "No Drop" ride. If anyone wanted more, or harder, miles, there is always after ward to continue on.

Pretty much the only places I ride are out my way. Every time I try and ride too far into Plano or Richardson I hit a force field of either hi temps or killer wind and turn back.

Mabey we could set up a MapMyRide group and everyone could post routes?

Meh. I was the "No Drop" buddy to the slow gal today. Others passed her and they weren't going that fast; they wanted her to draft, but they ended up pulling away. So I just stayed behind her and let her set her own pace. Then I offered to let her draft on me and she said yes, but I felt obligated to go at what seemed like a crawl to me when the rest of the pack was pulling away. But I felt good not dropping her.

I have that problem riding with my wife.
I look on it as a chance to gear down and work on increasing my cadence.
Looks kind of funny though, with the legs going like crazy and traveling 8-9 mph.

I just think that I can always find time to ride flat out...but the helping and encouraging is important too.

I joined the MapMyRide group.

I'm in for anything in the NRH area. Other rides too if someone wants to give me a car ride to the bike ride.

Glad to have ya! Doohickie lives out in FW and Fantasminha I believe lives in Grapevine. we'll be riding out and about your area too, probably. post some of your favorite rides to the group! Perhaps carpooling could be arranged.

OK, I joined and wil try and see if I can transfer some of my routes to the group routes.

I have some great places to ride, I'm just kind of "out there" for anyone who doesn't live in Collin county or Richardson/Garland.

We can probably set something up. You don't happen to have Fridays off, do you? I get every other Friday off; it might be a good time to set up a ride.

I'm up for anything Saturday/Sunday unless it conflict with a brevet I have to go to which are normally Saturday all day events but I dont' have a fixed schedule for those.

Weekday Evenings are ok too if they are within a certain radius of Irving. I joined the mapmyride group but I don't really have any routes except my commute and well I really don't want to do that

Yep...you DO rack up some mileage on the commutes. Don't worry though...we'll come up with some good rides. (albeit probably short and slow-ish for the miles you normally do)
The whole point is to compare notes and rides, and try to find some of the others of our....kind and gentle nature...to ride with.

Feel free to make contacts and pair up with riding partners whenever.

Short perhaps but I'd plan to ride there and back so no problem with any length route it'll be nice to ride with y'all. Slow-ish probably not. I'm stuck forever in the middle new new folks are slower anyone with time is faster I just have lots of miles from endless hours of riding everywhere I can.

I decided not to get involved in MapMyRide. The whole site is just too busy. I don't mind message forums, but I'm just not into "social networking" sites. If there are any announcements about the DFW C&A rides, please post them here. Thanks.

No problemo Doohickie!

Just had some fun trying to print a couple of my maps off MMR. They're trying to get people to change to a paid member status and now you have to pay per map or join as apaid member.

I'll still use it as a way to map and log my rides (been doing that there for almost a year) but may start mapping on a different site too.

Just did the River Legacy Park Ride:
http://www.mapmyride.com/view_route?r=470624822030

Thanks jonvee! Excellent ride! I Highly Reccomend it.

All MUP, but wasn't too crowded when I was there (Noon-middle of the week)
Managed to get 18 miles out of it. Then switched bikes and did another 4 miles.
For those of you who want a relatively flat long trail...this one's for you!

I could see us getting together for a ride and pancake breakfast or cookout there. Good pavilions there, too.
