New Pedals

So I'm getting a new bike this year and starting to buy the extras for it. Was at the LBS that I deal with today and noticed a set of 7800 Dura Ace pedals marked down from $329 to $199 plus he gave me club 10% discount, couldn't pass it up. Next will be new shoes, these are my first true roadbike pedals. Everyone tells me I will see a huge difference over my current MTB clipless and thought I should make the jump.

Here we go from my experience: The difference I felt going to road bike pedals (Look delta) from MTB pedals (Wellgo SPD knockoffs) was similar from when I went to the MTB pedals from toe clips and straps.

One caveat: The 7800 pedal is the older design with a plastic body that needs to be replaced periodically, while the new 7810 has a metal body that never needs replacing.

Kinda seems like a lot of money to spend on pedals. Although you did get a deal.
I bought shimano spd sl's for 39.99 and i like them a lot.

One thing that sucks about living in Canada is the price of bikes and related equipment. Way more than in the States. Oh I could have bought some a lot cheaper but I'm at the point with my cycling now I'm upgrading. Sure the old stuff works but there usally is a reason why you pay more. I'm looking at a 5.5 Madone up here it will set me back about $5000 after tax, crazy. Of coarse I could get something cheaper but I want it. I was also looking at a garmin 705 on the web it shows American price of $499 here more like $700. Supply and demand and I'm lucky to live in an area with a lot of cyclist and we can usally get some deals. Oh well I get free health care.

Me personally, I've ridden a bike with DA pedals, friends Madone, at the time I was riding 105 pedals. There was absolutely no difference in feel except for when I pull my foot from the pedal, just a little smoother. I would go with 105 again if I was buying a Shimano road pedal for less than $100. However, I have ridden Time road pedals, and if you have wider feet, they are sweet. I am currently running Time MTB pedals on both my bike and I love them.
