Rode with the Big Dogs!
 

For about 25 miles before they left my old, fat behind. Rode home alone but I'm staying up longer then I used to. They used to take pity on me when I rode the hybrid but since I bought the road bike they're just pounding me. Patience has never been my best number and I want to catch up so bad. I'm working on my cadence and trying to build up my strength cause it's the hills that kill me. It's annoying to give these little guys a 100lb advantage. I did the first 25 miles at 17.5 mph. I'm not sure about the end cause someone pulled out in front of me and I jammed on the brakes and blew the rear tire about a mile and a half from home. Walking in bike shoes messes with your average speed. I have a better rear tire and I'm ready to try again but it's 40 degrees outside and I've been in Florida way too long.:(

No flat supplies? I always carry a dollar bill as a boot for a larger cut/hole.:D

Red, I am proud of you for letting them draft you for that long.

You're doing the right thing. It's not the easiset thing, but it works. Riding with, and getting hammered by, better and stronger riders will make you faster.

It's no fun getting dropped, but when you step in with the fast guys they normally don't wait for you. They know what they are doing and while it might not seem like it, they are doing you a favor. They know you wouldn't be there if you weren't serious.

I'm not ready to hang with our local fast guys yet. Most of my saddle time is being spent on endurance, but after March I will be stepping up the training approach.
