Sounds a bit bragadocious:roflmao2: I would expect them to be tight, but not pinching or binding.

It's probably not a question of too tight, but rather in what way are they "too tight"?

Do they feel like you're getting a front wedgie? If so, the bibs are probably too short in the torso and pulling the shorts up on you.

I've got a pair of Performance Elite bibs which by all standards of modesty are "too tight", but they're also the most comfortable distance shorts I own.

^^ what he said. If that is not the case, then it should loosen up after a couple of times of usage.

It is like a front wedgie, but will they really loosen up a bit as I us them. I think they fit too well otherwise to send them back for the next size up.

Keep in mind they will fit different when riding. They are designed for cycling position not standing.

Not to thread hijack, but I have the 'torso' problem Clifton mentioned. Any suggestions for bib shorts for those of us with long, and wide, middles?

AJBECK, I have only owned two sets of performance brand bib shorts. When new, both felt tight until ridden a couple of times. After a ride or two, they seemed to stretch a bit and settle in.

Historian, I have found the performance elite good shorts with ultra my favorite after trying conventional shorts that continually rolled down from the waistband. I’m 6’ and 230lbs if that helps.

The Performance Elite has been the best for me so far, and I'm 6'6", 250 pounds.

My PI Gavia Plus bib tights are the shortest in the torso, and are only comfortable when I'm leaned over on the bike. Walking around in them, they dig on my shoulders a bit.

If I can find a pair on sale this spring, I'm thinking about a pair of Assos FI.Mille bib shorts if they're ok through the torso. I've heard from my LBS that many of our brevet riders swear by Assos shorts on any rides of 400k and up (but they did say it's not entirely worth the money for rides under a double century.)

I did 12 miles in the new bibs today and they feel extremely comfortable while riding. no more sore back side. thanks for all the input
