I like snow for xmas then it can bugger off. Ah the kids love it so I'll live with it. Good thing I don't mind the trainer.

We haven't had any snow here to speak of, but had a little ice storm last night. I got out and rode around a bit after it started sleeting (IE, when it stopped raining). Roads weren't slick then, but they are now. Maybe it'll be gone by lunch or so.

Snow is nice if you don't have to do anything in it, and if you don't have it all the time. I remember when I lived in Lubbock, we'd get 4 or 5 snows a year. The first one of the season, everyone got out and built snowmen and all. After that, nobody cared, it was just a bother.

Unrelated true story: When I was a kid, we lived in south Texas, where it seldom snowed. One time, we visited my grandmother who lived in Oklahoma. While we were there, it snowed maybe a 1/2" or so. So I and my two brothers got out, scraped all the snow off the car, and built a little snowman on the trunk about 18" high. Later that day, my dad needed to go into town, so we went with him, with the snowman still on the trunk. We got into town, and were stopped at a convenience store. While we were stopped there, a car pulled up behind us at a stop light, a guy hopped out of the passenger seat, grabbed our snowman, hopped back into the car, and they roared off. It's not often you experience snowman-napping.

This latest storm missed us, but we've had a ton of snow so far this winter--almost as much as last year when Madison had the most on record.

I went out and tried riding in 10 degree weather on the MUP yesterday. The streets around my home are hard packed ice since they don't salt the residential streets. I probably should have walked the bike for a few blocks. Just about wiped out. Then went about five miles and the path became hard packed ice. Turned around and was underdressed for the north wind and nearly froze my tush before I got back home.

So I think I'll stick to the rollers in my dark basement for another 2 months.

Upt o six inches of the stuff in Chester and Berks counties, PA. My mechanic wasn't able to open his shop, so my auto inspection isn't taking place today. I wish I had known before I drove out there. :(

Our big snow dump is gone now. We had a couple of miserable weeks though. I don't know when I've ever seen a over a foot of snow on the ground here before. What I hate even more than no riding when the snow is deep, is the drivers. Out here by the coast we get so little snow that few people know how to drive in it. Gets kinda scary. I hope we are done with it for this winter, but I doubt it. I don't know how some of you guys who live in areas where it snows for months on end can deal with it. I would go nuts.

About 10 inches on the ground over East here, in Indiana... (to be read in ones best British royal voice) WE ARE NOT AMUSED!... :)

Want a good cardio workout, without needing to haul yo butt up heart attack ridge, just take a regular size driveway, add 20cm of snow, and then shovel that on top of the metre high banks that are already there. :eek:

The fun part is always the glacier left by the city snowploughs, were getting to the point though, where you look at the driveway, look at the snow banks, and wonder where your going to put it. Thinking the $35 for a snow scoop might be a good investment......

We havent had any snow down here since '77...........


sooo...we invent other things to gripe about, like its too cold (50's) or too hot (98) or too many hills (hwy overpasses).


seriously though, digging out of the snow looks like fun (for about 30 min, until we book flights back to Florida,......providing of course we can even leave the airport) :D

I like snow. The only reason I am hating it is because I can't get out and ride. Tried the trainer, tried the YMCA, just can't get into it. I have thought about making some studded tires on my MTB and hitting the trails. I have heard of people putting some screws through an older set of MTB tires and riding the icy trails successfully. I am considering giving it a try just to get some time in the saddle. Cabin fever is setting in and the poundage is increasing.

Yea, as StephenH posted we had ice in the Dallas area Tuesday.

As I was slip sliding my way accross teh parking lot Wednesday morning I kept thinking about Tom and his tailbone and head impacting the ground. I just kept telling myself, "Don't be that guy!"

Were getting close to snow total records here.
I'm getting tired of it, ready for spring.

If I could, I would buy ice cleats for everyone in the whole world.
