    N+1 (re)build Complete!

Finished a complete rebuild of my 1984 Miyata 912 and took it for a very short spin. Really a nice handling bike, but the downtube shifters will take some getting used to. Cables, bearings, headset, chain all new. Seat and pedals off my wife's Giant. Galvanized spokes are original (32 spoke wheels) and I don't recall ever breaking a spoke. 700x23 tires are maybe a bit on the skinny side for my current 215 lbs, but I'm headed toward 190 anyway. Triple crank was built up when we first bought the bikes. Handlebar tape awaiting some more test riding. The paint is pretty scuffed up so maybe in the distant future a paint job is in order. Haven't worked on a bike in 20 years so I had a few "oops", but my LBS was very helpful.

I might call this N+1/2 since I'm going to let one of my adult sons use it. Of course I'm going to co-opt his mountain bike

    Sharp looking bike!
Are the levers adjusted up like vampire fangs because you're not done yet, or because that's where they're actually comfortable?
Whatcha gonna do for the bar tape? (I just did a blue/white harlequin on my '88 Trek 400. Black/white harlequin would look sweet on yours.)

Levers a just there temporarily until I get the fit figured out. I've got some bar tape to put on once the levers are positioned correctly. Don't recall the color. Might be black. I've got to try and find hoods that really fit these brake levers. The ones in the picture are off Diacompe (sp?) brakes and are really too big.

Levers are the original Shimano 600. The base that attaches to the handlebar is somewhat smaller than modern levers. I can post a close-up when I get a chance.
