Your claim to "Softcore" status?
 

My bikes have been parked since early November. The Historian's thread was just asking for a copycat. :D

Now, what qualifies you as a total wuss? :p

I got off my bike to go down a hill at the weekend*.

*It was a steep off road hill covered in snow, roots and mud and I was on my cross bike. But almost everyone else rode down.

I bailed on riding yesterday morning because there was an inch of snow/slush.

Last year during my second 200k attempt, I DNF'd. I finished up 109 miles and regrouped with my friends at the finish of an organized century I had ridden to the start line from my house. Instead of taking a break for a half hour, eating a burrito and having a pint of HTFU, I mooched a ride home in one of my friends' cars.

Some days I'll take the long route home (longer by 3 miles) because it's along the dead flat MUP and I only have to go up 1 hill at the end of my commute, instead of the shorter route with 3 big hills.

The club has a ride scheduled for this week-end some miles north of here. Easy ride. Lunch run. I'm meeting the group with my camper...:o

...because I ride a lot of miles....but all in FLAT Florida....i don't like climbing overpasses and I don't go out if it's under 50 degrees or if it's raining.

I think I may leave a little early or late today to avoid a little rain

I cancelled the last day of a tour once, because it was raining.

I'll ride in the rain but I won't leave the house if it's already raining.

I haven't ridden in close to a month. The irony is the weather has been so unseasonal that it's a shame I'm not out on the bike. Life, a back injury, and ski season keep me from riding this time of year. So I'm a wussy. Getting reacquainted with the rollers this week though, as much as my sciatic will let me....

Riding rollers in the winter, rather than riding outside.

I haven't ridden since last AUGUST. Plus, I rode less than 500 miles all of last year.

Nah. Rollers are too much like real work to qualify you for softcore status. Unless you have a front stabilizer.

about 2 miles into my ride home from work, It started to snow a little bit(no accumulation) so I caught the next subway to my apartment 2 miles further down the road.

Riding at night... I haven't done it, really. I've ridden downtown after dark where the streets are lit up like daylight anyways. But October was the end of my cycling for the year, since my commute goes through some unlit residential neighbourhoods, and I'm not comfortable riding when I can't see everything around me. After daylight savings was over I rode to work maybe twice, and that was it for the winter.

I stop to much for breaks and to watch the ships on Lake Earie and the Detroit river like yesterday I spent 30 min watching a Coast Guard Ice breaker making a path for a Ore carrier . I And I won"t leave the house if I got to fight a 20+ mph headwind . And if its less than 40 degrees F I just go to the gym :O) in the car ! There is more but you get the idea .

My trainer has over 99% of my total miles ridden since November of 08.

Is it at least 50 degrees outside? No? Back on the trainer!

If I am getting cold and wet, and getting wetter, I won't go. I had forgotten how cold it can be in the rain when you are soaked and getting more soaked. That just takes to long to warm up after arriving at work.

I will go if the rain has passed and isn't in the general area of my place. A light shower on the ride is a little refreshing, until cold rain water goes down your back.

If the high is less than 55 I won't go, unless there is a small Santa Ana wind event.

It didn't rain on Sunday but I chose to go out to breakfast instead. Then went out to a movie. I could have rode but I'm a softcore wuss!:D

I'm a weather wuss. If it's too cold (like under 45) or wet, I won't ride outside. Then it's trainer time.

This is hard to admit but I've taken a year off from any serious riding and it shows. I've gained weight and I can barely pedal the bike around the block. I find every excuse not to ride... I admit I have become a wuss, a fred, a total bike dork!

So OK no more excuses, I need to start riding and getting back to century riding again.

By the way, you guys who choose to use a trainer when it's cold... that is not wussin' out. You are still riding! Be proud of your commitment. Me? I would join Beanz for breakfast and a movie.
