Your "Lucky" Stuff?

Anyone have a favorite jersey/socks/shirt/whatever they wear when riding or exercising? I thought about this when changing at the gym last night. Whenever I work out I almost invariably wear one of two shirts, either a blue one from the Upper Bucks YMCA 5K, a gift from Uncadan that he had shrunk out of, or my brown "I Rode The C & O Canal" shirt from the bike shop in Hancock, MD. I suppose I wear them because I still feel slightly intimidated when going to a gym - pardon the introspection, folks, writers are prone to such analysis - and they make me feel a little more confident.

I probably wear my Bicycle Club of Philadelphia jersey for many of the same reasons. And I'd wear my Team Copaxone jersey, if I could fit into it, because I wore it when I rode my century in 2007.

Am I alone in having 'favorites', or are there other stories to be told?

I have a little pencil-topper green troll doll with rainbow hair. It's been with me on my bikes since 1991. I used to keep him duct taped to the bars on my MTB, he stayed there when I turned that bike into my commuter, and I put him in my seat wedge when I bought a new bike.

I never, EVER step on the chalk line when I walk from the dugout to the batter's box...

oooops, sorry, wrong daydream...

I only own one pair of gym shorts, two pair of (MTB) cycling shorts, two short sleeve jerseys, one long sleeve jersey and one pair of tights, so I'm pretty limited as to what I'll be wearing for any given activity.

Well, I dont really have a lucky shirt or jersey or anything like that. My cycling clothes are rather limited too, with only three pairs of cycling shorts that I dont even wear. I do have some athletic 'runners' style shorts I wear though because I sweat buckets, and eventhough they're a little short and show a little leg, I love the ventilation they offer and the wimmens folks dont seem to mind it either.

Just the runners shorts, a cotton tank shirt, and my red Vittorias sockless is all I ever wear.

My Bacchetta Recumbent jersey is what I wear on every brevet or long ride I'm on.. Of course I don't know if it is lucky or more because it is the only recumbent jersey I have and it has usable pockets in the front instead of the pockets in the back.

I've had this orange jersey for nearly 5 years. Haven't worn it much till this year. I only use it on organized rides so that Gina could spot me in a crowd a she drove the course as personal sag and it was better than sitting at home watching tv. Might have been part of the reason she was motivated to get out and do the rides too.

The jersey actually drew plenty of attention. Not bad for a Cheapo! Not sure if you can see but the socks I am wearing have an orange colored stripe at the Within the wide stripe, there is a smile face on the front and a smile with his tongue out on the back of the sock....I like other riders to know that if I pass them, I'm thinking "na na na na na naaa!"..I've gotten lots of responses while wearing them!

A few of the riders that I met on the organized rides and forums know it as the Mr. Beanz jersey!

I only wear the socks on organized rides too. Had them for maybe 4 years and only wore them about 10 times!

Just my cell phone and helmet, do they count?

I'll admit to being partial to my New Balance sweat-wicking T's which cost me $8 each, on sale at the local NB factory outlet. If I had bought them a size small they'd fit like cycling jerseys. Next time...

I like to ride in my jersey with the London street map. It is only useful if I get lost while riding in London, but I think it looks good.

I have a thing about socks and gloves. On any tough or potentially fast ride, I simply must be wearing ankle-height and synthetic Addidas socks, and a semi-clean pair of cheapo performance half-finger gloves. I like to keep 2 decent pairs of gloves, and wash and switch them out whenever they start to smell rank or have too much salt built-up on the outside (once a week or less).

It gets pretty hot here in Dallas in the summer, and I have lycra-shame, so anytime I find great, huge and long t-shirts, I wear them all summer long. I have one from the Carter blood drive that hits me mid-thigh. It's always my first choice for cycling in the summer if it's clean.

No actual favorites for me. Usually prefer the plain yellow jersey for everyday rides. When that starts to smell I wear the blue sport T shirt from Wal-Mart. Always feel a bit odd with any flashy shirt when by myself. During an organized ride and the crowd of flashy shirts it becomes a toss up between the Jelly Belly or 50+ shirt. Shorts are anything with a pad it them.

I like to wear my Hi-Vis yellow jersey and matching Hi-Vis yellow socks. I hope I am lucky enough wearing them that I don't get smushed by a car.
