Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

Touring with the wife in March

Maybe this is jinxing it, but I don't care. I'm excited! Martha has given me carte blanche set her up on her first-ever bike tour, provided I keep the miles very short and the hills reasonable.

It'll be a weekender, where we take the train somewhere and ride towards home. We're talking around 25 miles a day, but one has to start somewhere.

The plan of choice at the moment is to take the train to Trenton on a Saturday morning, and ride to Princeton, probably by way of Pennington to keep things interesting and pretty. For Sunday, we'd ride back to Highland Park by way of Kingston, Franklin Park, and maybe mixing it up with some of the D&RC towpath if the week before is dry.

Now I just need to get my touring bike back from the shop.
