Having been there and done it I don't wish what I have been thru on anyone ! You really DO NOT want to starve yourself like I did ! . Sure I lost most of my goal weight fast BUT to quick and my body is now paying the price I wish I had done it slower !!!!! BUT since what is done is done I am going to move on and lose this last 40 or so lbs slower 1 to 2 # a week I HOPE .

The only thing IMO that kept me from collapse is I take a LOT of daily supplements / VITAMINS ! But you can't live on vitamins .

Sleep study may help

HI,
I thought I was loosing my marbles as did my family and co-workers it turned out that I was having problems from sleep apnea, when they tested me I was waking 29 tmes and hour, my 02 sats were dropping off 29 times and hour that means i had zero REM sleep which is critical to mental health.
Get a sleep study done its worth it my insurance coved it 100% ditto for the CPAP machine and my mask

I now sleep very soundly for at least 6-7 hours a night.
A clue if your not dreamin you not sleepin. if your wife say you snoor alot.

I agree BUT I have had sleep studies since back in 1979 when they were not common ! I had it bad at one time in my life befor masks ! I had to have a pace maker implanted for it . My heart rate was droping to 16 BPM Back then the pace maker was the treatment of choice the mask wasn't an option then as far as I was told . I have had a sleep study done every yr since then and up until I lost so much weight it was a problem my last study showed NO apnea . I agree thou a person with apnea and doesn't know it is in a mess .

My medical history in short because of my weight and lack of getting off my arse is/was bad . I have had 2 heart attacks a double bypass at 37 now 54 next month was diabetic now borderline no meds HI blood pressure controled now . Almost loss the vision in my right eye from the diabetes. I had a pile of lazer surgerys to stop diabetic retinopathy in BOTH eyes left one had the most damage . I can still see good with glasses and go every yr to the eye Dr to have it checked .

So as I tell everyone a bicycle and my Dr's and coming to my senses has saved my life ! I will never allow myself to get in that kina shape again god willing .

I see my Dr atleast every 8 weeks right now and am very aware of my health and body now . I just wish I had come to my senses sooner .

My hi weight was on record 371 # but I am sure it was closer to 400 #Iam 6ft tall . Befor I started this bicycle riding life change diet I hate the word diet .I changed my life I didn't go on a diet . the word diet for me is a negative term IMHO !

If it can happen because of weight I most likely have had it . The sad part is I was a serious athlete in school and in perfect shape up until I was 24 played a very HIGH level of hockey . Then I got married and just went to work and sat on my arse and went to h e double hockey stix .

I wish I knew a way to help and get across to others how important your health is and that IF they want to anyone if I can CAN strighten up and lose weight and have a better life .

IMHO a bicycle saved my life !

+1 on bicycling saving a life. In my case it was getting off cigarettes.

The weight thing is peanuts compared to that one.
