Which bike gloves? Who has the best deals?
I have large hands and my gloves do become wet with perspiration. Who has the best gloves for me?

Personal preference really.
I have size 11 hands and dislike padding and loose/padded gloves so mechanic/work gloves are what I tend to look for.

Wal Mart has a nice open end finger pair for around $9. Its what I use. I tried on several $20-$30 pair that didn't feel any different.

I don't know Red. I wear XL gloves and their L gloves fit good. I've even worn a pair of light cotton gloves under them earlier this year.
YMMV, but cheap enough to go and check out.

It is definitely personnel preference and you need to figure out what you like. My favorite pair was a set of Spenco but I don't believe they make em anymore. I tried some Specialized that seemed good in the store but they put pressure in places I didn't like. I now use Louis Garneau ErGoAir which I am very happy with. You may also want to consider some weight lifting gloves.

I've had $30 PI's, Fox, Specialized BG, and Cannondale gloves but the $12 specials at Performance are just as good. Better than the PI's IMO.

I like the Performance gloves, but my $12 pair only lasted a couple of months before they started to fall apart. I bought a $20-25 pair of Pearl Izumi gloves and they've been going strong for almost 9 months. And I really like the Pearl Izumi Cyclone full-finger gloves I bought for winter use!

I bought Gina $30 PI and she doesn't care for them. SHe likes he Performance pittard gloves, fit her better. Fell apart too and she doesn't wipe her tires like I do. I guess everyone has a different experience!
I bought her 2 pair of $30 gloves in one week. Didin't care for them. Sp gopt her a third, then the Performance specials. Other gloves are sitting there. Maybe she'll use them someday!

Ahh, there are $12 gloves at Performance then there are the $12 SPECIALS at Peformance. I thoght about posting and should have that I wait till the gloves go on sale. So I get the Performance $30 pittard gloves on sale for $12-$15. They are much better than the standard Performance $12 glove.

The Performance Pittard gloves actually look pretty nice! I was tempted by them the last time I bought gloves, but they weren't on sale at the time whereas the PI gloves I ended up with were. I'll definitely keep my eye out for them next time around. Thanks for the pointer, and the follow-up!

My all time favorites are Pearl Izumi Pittards.. The only gloves I've worn for the last 15 years.. Obviously lots of others love them as well for them to have been around for so long... Most styles dont last a season or 2.

One Pearl Izumi glove to avoid is the Gel Lite. The synthetic leather tears easily. Mine were unusable after six months. Too bad, because I've liked the other PI stuff I own.

Do any of the gloves mentioned above allow for some tanning?
I already know I will have the farmer's tan, I don't need to have a pair of perma gloves to go with it....

I got the PI Attack on sale at Performance, and I freaking love them. I forgot them for my first triathlon, and I made sure not to make that mistake at the second one. Next to my helmet, these are a must for my rides. I'm sure there are better gloves, but not at that pricepoint.

My favourite for tanning is any of the old-school macrame backed gloves so you get that nice lattice looking tan on the backs of your hands, complete with the big oval spot which screams "Hey everybody, look how much time I spend on my bike!"

I rode the Spenco gloves back when you could buy them in the bike shops...
My current favorite pair of gloves are Giro Milan. The palm is lightly padded in places, but the rest is a very soft leather similar to what is used in good golfing gloves. It breathes very well, and is comfortable. However, it covers the entire back of the hand, so no interesting tan lines...

Harbingers
A while back I posted a thread similar---I have "hams", not hands. I am riding with a nice, inexpensive pair of Harbinger gloves. They fit nicely, have some decent padding, and are rather inexpensive.
