how do u get ur sweet on?
just curious.... i've changed the way i eat, what i eat, and how i think about food... but, lately i've been slipping a little...
my dilemma is that i infrequently crave something sweet, like pastries, candy, or ice cream (hmmmmmmm, ice cream, or better yet, gelato :D).... anyway, i figured that i'd ask what some of u do to satisfy (or regulate) a craving for sweets? thanks |
I eat sweets when I crave them. I think denying yourself these kinda things unnecessarily elevates them. But, I won't eat a ton of something, just enough to satiate the craving.
|
i dont deny myself either...
in fact, most of my friends ask me how i've lost the weight i already have, and i'll tell them that i eat reasonably and work out as often as possible.... one of them went on to ask what i have cut out of my diet, and i told him that i haven't really cut out anything, but rather, i moderate my intake a bit better and my tastes have changed (less fat, more nutrients, and for some reason i just dont have a taste for sodas anymore). i think i shouldve ask the question a little differently: what do u eat that can satisfy that craving, but... how should i say it... is a better choice, health-wise, than a candy bar or pastry? |
Man you had to mention Gelato! Pacuago's in Dallas was my favorite!
+1 to Giving into the craving but limiting the amount. If you've already had your fix and crave again i find some chewing gum helps or veggie bites sometimes. |
The sweeter fruits do it for me... Pineapple, strawberries. Nature's candy!

Two whole grahm crackers = 110 calories
two full size marshmallows = 50 calories Place marshmallows on one half of each cracker, microwave 20 seconds on high, top with other half to make a half a_sed smore. Fast, easy, hot, and oh so sweet. 160 Calories isn't all that bad to satisfy a craving for sweet, crunchy, and gooey. |
Either frozen fruit bars (no sugar added) or a Smoothie King Gladiator (2 carbs, 45 g Protein).
My fav in the Gladiator is Chocolate, banana, peanut butter....YUM! Of course the peanut butter adds extra calories and fat, but adds protein and some omega 3s as well... |
Fresh fruit smoothies.
a handful of strawberries 1/2 bananna handful of blueberries toss in some almonds a smear of peanut butter 2 tablespoons of yogurt add honey cranberry juice 1 cup ice blend drink yummy |
Is this like a Dej Vu type thingy? There was an exact same topic few days ago. I don't have the time to go on and on again about how much I love icecream. How much I love to do the whole darn container, no sissy stuff, just plain ol stuffing my face til I can't eat anymore. I don't have the time though to go on and on again!:p
Did I mention how much I like icecream? Or how much I love to just eat the whole dern thing?:D |

I am trying to get off sweets all together - my downfall. So right now I limit myself to Baskins/Robbins Tuesday night $1 scoop night. It's a child size scoop. Jamocha Almond Fudge, any size, is still just so sweet and satisfying. I don't bring the ice cream home cause I will be tempted to eat more. Going to the shop limits my portion.
I unfortunately love most sweets. Ice cream first, cookies, various candies (dark chocolate and Reisens!), cake (yellow cake with choc. icing or pinapple upside down), you name it I'll eat it provided it isn't real sweet. I don't like things like pecan pie or Baklava. I wish I like the heathy sweets but alas... so I just limit myself. That way I don't overindulge. |
I love me some pineapple and local strawberries (pronounced skrawberis) after a ride for a sweet fix.

OK so here's the question for all of you you say fresh fruit is your "sweet" what got ya on the Clyde forum?
|
Beer, Pizza, Burgers, fries, McDonalds Breakfasts. And the No 1 culprit... (Ad Hok Drum roll) About a gallon of Cola a day. It ain't only the sweets, sugar... (pardon the pun, couldn't help myself... which is probably got me into trouble in the first place). But I quit the Cola, can't even drink the Coke Zero cause I've tried and about a week later, I'm back to guzzling the regular stuff, yes I'm a coke addict (cola that is). Also, I am the true carb addict, anything Pasta, rice, or a nice bread. Have I said enough, actually, sweets aren't that bad for you. It's the other stuff that'll get ya!
Cheers, Eric... |
I found the South beach dessert surprisingly tasty. But then again, that diet only works for people that aren't as worried about fats as sugars and carbs. I was stuck on non-fat riccotta cheese+vanilla extract, almond slivers, cinnamon and splenda for a while.

Chocolate.

FiberOne bars are awesome. Sweet + a good chocolate flavor. They also have quite a bit of protein and fiber which make for a filling (and healthy) snack. If I have a huge chocolate craving them I'll eat (slowly suck on) a square of 85% dark chocolate.

Am I the only one here that likes Fluffernutters? Seriously, I love peanut butter....and chocolate. Reeses anything will pretty much send me over the edge:D
As far as going to get something sweet, I like the Big Spoon yogurt and Ricks Dessert Diner (I'm in Sacramento...anyone who lives here eventually gravitates to Ricks at least once). ~B |
