Great Mother of All things decent and Non-Hilly

So we're in Kingman,Az at the moment and we're hitting that part of the country that long inclines, followed by 3-6% hills are a normal occurrence. Near Yucca Valley i decided to upgrade my gearing to
a 12-34 in the rear. I had a 12-27 and it just flat out ran out on me...or i ran out on it...

We're meeting some amazing people!! Kind hearted folks with cycling aspirations of their own.

I have popped my spokes and broken a saddle so far.... i'm becoming a bike mechanic slowly but surely!
it's nice being able to work on your own gear...

It's funny because i can already tell my legs are shaping up and adjusting to the different terrain..
if only its started in the mid-section!

We'll just wanted to say hello to my fellow Clyde/Athena's !! HOLA!!! Ride Strong!

howdy

i kinda wish i was running a 12-34 on the rear of the pacer. i have a 12-27 now and its great but if i were to change i would have to buy a new derailer. what are you running for gearing up front. my smaller gear is a 24 and if i had a 34 cog on the rear i would have about a 19 inch gear. i think i could pedal up a wall at that point

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Hey Chris! Booyah! Sounds like you're having a great time. Wish I was there.

Maybe when you roll through Northern Indiana, some of the Hoosier Clydes can hook up with you.

I started out with a 12-25 rear cluster which I soon swapped out for an 11-32 and a long cage mountain derailleur to more easily tackle the hills. You definitely made a wise choice.
Glad that you're having fun and learning a bunch of new wrenching skills (not that you're breaking stuff. I'm not happy about that, but the skill building is good.)
