A question...

Ok, so this is probably going to be a hard one to answer, but I figured I would come to you guys before taking it to the LBS tomorrow.

I've recently replaced my crank due to stripping the pedal out of the old one. I also added clippless pedals at the time (sp-520's). when I took the bike out today I was noticing that there was a clicking sound coming from somewhere around the crank when I press down with my right foot. It does not do it if I do not have much load on the crank, but if I have much, it is there.

I'm also using pedal extensions (kneesavers) and the lbs guy suggested dropping them if I can since I'm putting a lot of torque on the pedals and cranks.

Like I said, I don't know where the sound is coming from, but I figured I would see if anyone has any similar experience.

Sounds like the Bottom Bracket may be toast.

Bottom bracket was replaced with the crank, both yesterday. (doesn't mean its not, it will just really suck if so.)

Then the bottom bracket may be slightly misaligned, or off center a tad and your getting a chain rub on the FD. Try trimming the front derailleur and see if it goes away. It could also be a dry bearing in the pedal, by the way, and I'd actually check that first.

Try removing the pedals and extenders, greasing the threads, and reinstalling too.

Make sure the crank arms are tight. Always check after the first few rides on new ones.
