Hi. I know I'm going to sound like a walking advertisement, but whatever.

I checked out the Bike Rides website from one of the banner ads here. Yes, weird, I never knew people actually clicked on them. It's a pretty cool site where you can record your ride dates, lengths, time, etc... I'm pretty sure there's other services and such out there, but I haven't been doing the biking thing for more than a week.

I started walking and such, but it's hard to get motivated to do that, so I moved on to biking since I've had this big some what expensive mountain bike hanging in a garage for the past year that was never used beyond the first ride after purchase.

Any ways, it also has a map with a route around the US that calculates where you'd be for how long you've ridden. Pretty cool.

Are there any other sites/software out there like this?

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

I went, I signed up, I think it's really cool, and another motivating tool! Too bad they didn't start out east and have you make your way out west like the old Oregon Trail style game!

I'm on bikerides.com with the same user name, DieselDan. I used another site, but received some racist feedback over a bike ride in South Carolina.

Another site that is worth checking out is https://www.bikely.com/. I've been using it for a couple of years and this site rocks.

I just signed up, but I don't get it. How do I find people to ride with?

https://www.mapmyride.com/

you map your route, get mileage, get an elevation profile.
You can also log training and if you are a commuter, it will calculate Gasoline and $ saved as well as Carbon Offset. Oh, and its free!
