What do y'all have planned for Memorial day weekend?

Short camping tour, if the weather (and our health) holds out.

EGUNWT 05-21-09 07:24 AM

Time with friends, a couple nice rides, and lots of video games. Debating between Team Fortress 2 (free this weekend, by the way) and leveling a death knight.

Never count on the weather holding out, EVERY time I have gone camping, it has rained at least the first 6-12 hours so that everything is wet. :notamused:

Tom Stormcrowe 05-21-09 08:33 AM

Short camping tour ourselves. :D

davin1023 05-21-09 08:41 AM

The plan as of now is for my wife and I to take a day trip over and ride some of the Tunnel Hill Trail in southern Illinois. Not sure if it will be Saturday or Sunday, it depends on the weather.

CliftonGK1 05-21-09 09:47 AM

The 7 Hills of Kirkland century ride is on Memorial Day.

I might do the 100 Miles of Nowhere ride on a 1mi loop around my neighbourhood on Saturday, too.

Kamala 05-21-09 09:54 AM

Northern Lake Washington Loop on Saturday. Then fly east and drive back to Seattle from DC in 3 days.

CACycling 05-21-09 10:03 AM

My wife will be out of town at a conference 1/2 the weekend so it gives me a chance to spend some "guy time" with my sons. As they are both teenagers, my getting in nice, long early-morning rides prior to them waking up won't be a problem. Hopefully I'll get in a ride or two with my wife once she returns and the rest of it will be family time.

TechKnowGN 05-21-09 10:06 AM

My fiancee leaves tomorrow for the weekend to work a volleyball tournament. Will pay for 1/2 the wedding cake or her deposit for school in the fall plus 1/6th the wedding cake. She won't be back until late monday. If money weren't an object, I'd visit my folks, but as it stands I'll probably work out, clean the house, do a bunch of writing, play video games, volunteer at the bike co-op, and ride a lot. I'm also going to swim tomorrow, and hopefully find cheap places to swim all weekend.

Yard work, paint the hallway, paint the baseboard trim, clean the carpet, and possibly buy a more than a new bike's worth of furniture.

My Mother In Law is coming in two weeks. She's a sainted woman but her impending arrival is killing me.

cod.peace 05-21-09 10:19 AM

Let's see...we'll be at my mother-in-law's, and my car is getting fixed tomorrow. Right now I'm planning a 17 mile ride to work, work BBQ at lunch, then a 30 mile ride to my m-i-l's house. To make life more interesting I'll be toting a bottle of sparkling rosť (to celebrate clearing the last roadblock to buying our 1st house) and a borrowed jigsaw (to repair a sandbox) on the bike. Weekend riding will be limited to going around the block with my 5 year-old on his 20" wheeled bike.

theetruscan 05-21-09 10:29 AM

flat, easy century on Saturday.
Interval rides on Sunday.
Work on Monday.

petflunky 05-21-09 11:45 AM

Let's see. Friday, work both jobs. Sat work the mid shift at the second job (11-7). Sunday, hopefully go for a ride, then go visit my parents. Monday, I may go visit some friends. If not, I'm going for a bike ride.

Mr. Beanz 05-21-09 12:37 PM

Saturday, taking my Stiffy on a 60 miler with 6000ft ele-gain. Sunday is my 46th Bday so Gina's making a dinner fer me after she kicks my arse on a 40 miler morning ride( I'll be tired from the climbing!):D Then Monday, another 50 or so miles on the trail. Maybe a small BBQ at Pop's place!:thumb:

Took it out yesterday for some lite climbing. Parking the Lemond for a while so's that I can get used to the Canni. My organized event is on June 13th so I'm dusting off the bike now.

EasyEd 05-21-09 04:10 PM

Monday is our 18th anniversary, so I will be doing something nice for the wife, like take her out to dinner maybee. Perhaps we could buy each othe new bikes as a present? I'll see if her mood looks good enough to spring that one one her. lol.

Condorita 05-21-09 04:22 PM

The plan for Saturday right now is the Strawberry Festival Parade in Garden Grove with my BFFs, then breakfast after. However, this is subject to change if the weather turns so foul at the Cape that Atlantis has to come home to her birthplace. If that's the case, I just may beat feet up to Edwards to watch her come home. The BFFs may not like it, but the opportunities to see landings are fading fast.

Sunday I'll ride.

Monday I'll ride.

Mr Danw 05-21-09 06:54 PM

Since I had to bail on the Cheesesteak hunt, and I have to wait for the satellite guy Saturday morning, I may meet Chipcom and some others for a C&V ride in Amish Country.

DieselDan 05-21-09 07:30 PM

Work Saturday
Church and Ride Sunday

Beer Fest for sure

HI,
I will probably cook out and have my usual beer Fest to support my favorite beers, like hiny ,and St pauli babe ..
what a babe on the bottle is it me or is she smilling?. BYOB and Come on Down it could be nice..
Doug
PS most of the country will be dealing with rain according to the weather channel..:twitchy:

When I used to run road races the local companies would have a beer truck at the end of the race with a bout four spouts on each side , it was instant buzz on 2 tiny glasses of beer, but it tasted so good....
Are you catchin my theme...hehe

TrekDen 05-21-09 08:08 PM

Off to Hartwell to the Tour of the Centuries...Staying at a hotel on Friday and riding a century on Sat,. Have not worked out all week - so hoping I will do well.

Tom Stormcrowe 05-21-09 09:53 PM

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2845448 for our very short camping trip. Its to shake down my new BOB clone, and let the wife learn how her trike rides under load. That way, when we head up to Lake Michigan in MidJune, she'll have a better idea.
