Time to get right..
Allow myself to introduce.. myself. My name is Brian. I'm 25, 6'1", and currently 235lbs. I've been lurking around these forums for the past couple of weeks as I've be contemplating getting into cycling. About 3 weeks ago I decided it was time to stop procrastinating and get into shape. First, I started by getting my diet under control. No more fast foods, late night snacks, or beer (well, not as much beer). Then I began to do a little walking. About 3-4 miles a few times a week. But that's just boring. So yesterday I went to my LBS and had them order me a Trek 7.2 FX. I'm pretty stoked about getting into a new hobby and getting in shape at the same time.
I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for all the advice given in other threads. I've learned a lot around here. You'll probably start hearing from me more as I begin my biking adventures.
Welcome Brian! You should know we will need pics of the Trek once you get it. We like new bike pics!

Welcome to the party. It's funny, I never jogged because it seemed so boring, especially if doing it inside on a treadmill. But man, I love riding bikes. We clydes tend to look at weight a little more than the average cyclist, but it seems like the one unifying theme is that we all like riding. I hope you enjoy it too.
Just cutting out the fast foods and unhealthy snacks will help a bunch. But beer is beer. Just remember to save it for AFTER your ride!
I second that motion :thumb: Welcome to the world of cycling, dude....you picked a great bike to start on...I still get a smile when i start pedaling and i think about how much more distance i will cover in an hour (and that's if i just wanted a near-effortless joyride around the neighborhood)than if i were just walking :thumb:
