    brooks b17 and a big guy?

    i've been considering a brooks b17 for a while now on my road bike... but was hesitant to pay that much for a saddle I hadn't at least test sat on... I finally got to test sit on a brooks b17 and it felt like it was a saddle i could def grow into... I can see how people could grow to love them.

    that being said i've read of a few big guys killing them quickly... i'm 300# and am worried of it failing quickly... my wallet can't justify the cost if that happens just shortly after I manage to get it broken in.

    am I worried about nothing?

    I had the same concerns, but I've had a B-17 for two years now and wouldn't go back. Just make sure to care for it and it will last. I was over 400 when I started and I didn't kill mine. They're made of extremely thick saddle leather.

    I have two of them (on different bikes) and at 350 lbs+, haven't had any trouble.
    If anything...we break them in easier.

    I've had one for over a year now at 340#. No complaints, but I prefer the sprung b67, as it is a little wider.
    14,000 miles and rolling...

    250 pounds here. Over 6000 miles on my B-17 Imperial, and close over 4000 on a standard B-17. The only issue I've had with the B-17 Champion Standard was around 2000 miles it started to feel 'saggy' and tightening the nose bolt didn't fix it.
    I bought a leather punch, put a line of holes along the bottom edge of the skirt and laced it up. I've never had an issue with it since, and it feels new again. (Except for being broken in at the sit bones.)
