Hello, new guy here

Hello. Just thought I should introduce myself. Been lurking around these forums for about a month now, the time has come to write something.. :)

I'm 25 y.o. weigh 146 kg and am 202 cm high. I played handball for about 10 years and weighed 105-115 kilos. After breaking a bone in my left foot the doctors said the operation would be risky and I could end up with a limp.. so I decided not to do it.. and put on Some 35 kilos in the last 2 years. My current weight is way to much and because of my injured foot bone I can't run because it starts to hurt like hell.

About a month ago I started thinking about getting a bike and found this great forum. Been reading it every day and did some bike research in the local bike shops.

Yesterday I became a proud owner of a KTM Life Track and rode my first 20k in about 6-7 years. I went to bed aching and truly happy..:) The bike is great and the only problem so far is that my rear end is sore. I realize that I have to adjust, so I'll take it easy for a week or two.

I just wanna say thanks to the people on this forum for inspiring me and getting me interested in cycling. It's a fun way to improve my overall fitness and health, loose a few pounds and move quicker around town. I'll go out for a ride today and post some pics of my new favorite toy.. :)

Welcome to the board!

Another member for the Clyde basketball team :D

Give yourself a month of riding before you give up. The soreness and fatigue will go away.

Start slowly and build your mileage.

Welcome!

Who said anything about giving up? :)

I didn't spend one months paycheck on a new bike to give up in a month. :thumb:

Hehe, yeah, spot on. Online translator or Croatian acquaintances?

A little update. I did 53 km in 2,5 days.. still planing to do about 10 this evening. I would have done more 6km laps around a lake but I can't handle the soreness. And I keep forgetting to bring my camera and shoot some pictures for posting.. To excited when I grab the bike.. forget about everything else.. :)

Hopefully I'll remember to bring it on the ride tonight.

That is awesome. Keep it going there rpavic. And oh yes, bring the camera. I always enjoy seeing what others see on their trips.

Hello again. A month has passed since i bought the bike (still haven't taken a picture, d'oh!). Haven't been riding it much because of rain that has been falling on and off for 20 days now.. Today the sun is out and I hope it stays sunny for a while.. :)

I managed to do 230 km but haven't lost any weight because I was riding one day, than nothing for three days and so on... But, I feel a lot better, my overall fitness has improved.

Going out for a longer ride over the weekend, gonna bring a camera and take some pictures.. :)

See ya soon.

Ypu are doing it right, and the weight loss will come with time. You are spot on feeling the fitness improve. Being healthy is not limited to how much you weigh.

I'm looking forward to bike pics. I'm a big KTM motorcycle fan and a KTM bicycle sounds too cool.
