Craigslist will make me poor

I swear I need to stop looking at craigslist. I have saw multiple items I would like (a lot of nice bikes *drool*) but finally bit the bullet and mailed concerning a classic bike (too big) and a pair of Sidi road shoes. Turns out the guy works for the same place as me so I tried them on and for 35 bucks I now own them. I have the bug, now I want more *LOL* bargain bargain bargain!!!!!!

Are you sure you don't have a double X chromosome? I mean you're talking about a "sale" AND "shoes" after all.

CL is a terrible terrible place. I got a Cannondale two weeks ago for 300.00 that was cared for really well. The week before that I scored in IPAQ pocket PC still in the box for 80.00. On second though, you shouldn't go to Craigslist-alot-It is a silly place.

Luckily for me (or for my wallet, anyway) my local craigslist seems to be relatively inactive in the bike department. I think I've sold more stuff than I've purchased. Amazon.com is my weakness. . .

I got my current ride on CL, and I've sold a few too. I also have a weakness for ebay.

I can never find stuff I want on CL. When I do, I'm always too late. CL is indeed evil!

If it's gets way out of hand and you need some more money, there's a Jobs section on CL, too - pick up a part time job to finance the addiction...

I'm fairly safe at the moment, you actually need to have some money before you can spend it it on CL. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I have not been able to afford some of the treasured CL finds. On the other hand, my 67 year old dad has become a CL monster since I got him started on it. He has bought a quad, a front scoop for his tractor, and is looking for motor for his boat now.

I'm guilty too. I picked up a two bike standing rack (the kind you hang your bikes on) for $20. I also picked up a mint condition 2005 Felt F24 road bike for my 6 year old for $250. My old Trek 1400 was bought on there too. I honestly can't remember all of the things I've spent on that site over the past six years. It's hard to avoid it. We aren't women. We buy stuff we need or think we do. At least we buy stuff that we actually use.

CL just made me $65 in the past two days....I sold an unused saddle and seatpost. Best of all, I didn't have to pay any Ebay or PayPal fees.

That said, selling can be a pain when you get a bunch of no-shows.

You want a real laugh? I keep a web spider continuously searching Craig's List on a national basis looking for very large bikes and other bikes suitable for a Clyde or Athena. How do you think I almost always know about a bike in someone's area......

My CL is great for bikes...except everyone seems to know exactly what they are worth so not a lot of bargains to be had. Which is good and bad. I mean, I don't necessary want to screw someone out of a nice bike, but...but...if they are stupid enough to list it without doing the research, someone is going to take advantage of that fact.

The funniest one I saw was the guy trying to sell a Wallyworld Huffy for $200, when you can get the same bike new for $79.

I think services like CL are great, one mans junk is another mans treasure. It's part of the new, less polluting world, when you don't want something anymore, instead of throwing it in landfill, you put on CL and see what you can get for it,

I agree as I'm a CL addict myself. I check for both photo and bike gear in two locations a minimum of 4 times a day... A month ao I was in the market for an old steel touring bike and bought a bike out of lust rather than logic (my Raleigh technium post). Now I'm looking for parts to make it closer to appropriate while thinking, "Jeez, maybe it would just be easier to just find a touring bike, keep the Raleigh for down the road and..." I've actually sold stuff to, but i seem to lean to the "acquisition" side of the fence.

CL is definately a weakness for me. I bought my last fixie off of CL for $100. I live in a college town and a guy was moving out and couldnt take it with him so i snatched it up and put on some new grip tape and tires and its good to go. However there is another "CL" that my wallet seems to be drawn to and that is Chainlove.com. I got some new MTB gloves for $7.00 a new helmet for $25 and some new MTB tires for $16 a pop. You can't beat it!

Its Ebay for me. I just bought nearly an entire Ultegra groupo when I only needed 1 brake and the crank. Nearly 70% off regular price though

Oh well, those new parts sure do look shiny and the shift so nicely.
