Bad Driver's License Photo?

Started bicycling last August and today a security guard questioned whether the driver's license was mine! This is a good sign. Don't know how much weight I've lost, but I've had a significant transfer from everwhere else to my legs which is as it should be. I assume some mystical process has also converted fat to muscle.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Well, no, you didn't convert fat to muscle. You burned off the fat and built new muscle tissue.

Don't listen to Tom!

It is a magic process that turns fat into muscle. But the magic only works if you exercise and eat healthy. Then the health gremlins come in the middle of the night and wave a magic fork over you. The fat literally transforms directly into muscle.

I caught them once. I sort of woke up halfway, and there were these gnome-like gremlin-y dudes dancing all over my bed waving something that looked vaguely like a Hobbit might eat curry with it.

So they said some stuff in this crazy tonguespeak that I did not grok, and when I awoke the next morning my moobs were totally smaller and my biceps grew! AMAZING.

Never, EVER doubt the existence of the health gremlins. Every time you doubt a health gremlin, God kills 786324 kittens by smashing them with decapitated angel corpses. You wouldn't want that on your conscience would you? Think of all those kittens.

I was wondering about this the other day. What happens when one loses a bunch of weight, and the info on their driver's license is nowhere near their current weight? Should one make the trip to DMV to 'fix' it, or wait to see what happens when law enforcement questions you about the discrepancy?

At least you renew the drivers' license every couple of years. You have to live with a passport photo for ten years!

I started commuting and riding regularly in late March-early April. I'm hoping that I have the same driver's license "problem" soon, too...

Bring on the health gremlins!!!

Last time I half woke up, I saw a gremlin, I woke up a little more, when it whacked me across the nose, it was the cat So I got up and fed him.

Theyve been working on mine for sure, but honestly thats not so much to do with the bike as it is the swimming I've been doing for my triathlon. Not only can I feel my breast bone, but my moobs have been shifting downward and reducing, while the muscles underneath have been growing.

Sadly, the need to grow a lot more if im to be any faster at my racing!

Actually, I have no idea how old the DL photo is. We renew in CA every 4 years, but by mail and we don't need no stinkin' new photo. Might be 12 years old or more. I travel a good deal and I've been wondering how come the TSA folks are taking so long letting me through!

Wow...in PA we renew by mail or internet and they send you a card that you have to take to a photo center at the DOT. We get a new DL picture every 4 years.

Not a good idea to have a TSA wondering if you really are who you say you are

Eh nowadays they probably just spy on us from wherever and download whatever pic they have on file....oh wait, what was that again?

I've had some interesting experiences with DL's over the years. In 1990 or so, when I was staying up here in MO and job hunting, Arkansas sent me a renewal form which I filled out and they sent me a new DL with NO photo at all...just a solid blue background labeled "Valid Without Photo"

I sure got a LOT of double takes everytime I bought booze. Greatly entertaining.

Fast forward to a little more recently.

Here in MO they certainly didn't seem to pay attention to my weight - I renewed my DL last year and listed at 5-10/295 even though I hadn't weighed that much since 1997 or so. No one seemed to notice. What they did change, I just noticed was their fee structure.

See, I have three licenses - regular operators, Class E chauffuer's, and a motorcycle license. Used to be $15 for all three. So when I told them I didn't like my photo once they said they'd have to charge me the full rate for all three, I was ticked. Not gonna pay $90 (15x3 times 2 for a 6 year license).

I had a rifle on layaway at a local dealer, and when I told them the address on my DL was out of date they said I'd have to get some form of gub'mit issued ID with my current address on it. So a few weeks ago I went up to the license office and got a new DL with a new pic, current address, and my now reasonably accurate height/weight info on it for only $20 - same expiration date (in 2014) and no testing required. Much better deal this time

Tom
