Starting Weight this week is way up: 179. Why? I binged last night - Made a ton of popcorn and it was not pretty. I think I was depressed after retunring form my week long ride and reentry. So hopefully next Monday's weigh in will be down 7 pounds! 4 pounds I'd say from just eating yesterday and the day before. The rest of the pounds from eating helathy this week.

    Goal - Down 7!
How? Drink a ton of Water, Smaller Breakfasts...Granola Bar and CoffeeStart workingout with weights or Core Exercises. look into Health club classes in Chicago?
Ride Bike on Monday 2 hours - Practice making full circles and pulling up.
    Stationary Bike: Tues, Wed, Thursday

    Saturday, Sunday - Longer Rides

Good morning. 146 this morning. Very slowly working off the four pounds that magically appeared when I replaced my scale.

I'll do a shortish ride today on the trainer. Hopefully get out early Wed morning for a ride, and maybe Friday morning too. Not sure if I'll get a ride in this weekend as I have a shooting match.

I'm down 1.2 pounds this week. Not quite the 2 pounds I was shooting for, but a loss is a loss.

I've completely blown my riding goals for the past two weeks, no excuses, but I've not ridden for two weeks now. I really need to get to it this week.

    285 This a.m.

Goals for the week-2lbs and break 40 miles. Drink a liter of water daily (or more) and try to stay around 2000 calories.

Goal for this week is 260 - a loss from Friday of 2lbs. Not as easy as it sounds as I think I gained Fri - Sun.

No other goals this week as I have a tweaked knee from the Tour ride I did Saturday.

    ack! not happy.

Back up to 94.5kg on tonight's weigh in (up 1.5kg, 3lb).

Wife was nice enough to suggest water retention with the wild change of humidity here, but I'm not buying.

Hopefully weather allows me to hit the road tomorrow (we get nasty rainstorms here at this time of year).

261 3/4 today. Down 1 1/4, missed my goal but am still pleased. Down about 12 lbs. since I started in May.

Diet continues to be my limiting factor. Two more graduation parties this past weekend, and with ZERO willpower I ate quite a bit.

Rode to breakfast with the family on Sunday and then the wife and I added a 15 mile ride after so I hit my goal of 30 miles.

Worked out every day I came in to the office and golfed the other day (which counts as a workout if you shoot over a hundred like i did).

Same goals for this week - 2lb weigh loss, 30 miles of riding, 4-5 gym workouts.

I am really looking forward to not sliding to the 250 mark on the scale at the gym. Soon, soon.

    MM

209 now. Upper limit of normal is only 20 more pounds, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

My max weight 5 years ago was probably 320-330. Don't know because I didn't weigh myself. I started on a recumbent exercycle for 3 mos, got a 400 lb-rated scale, and was 307. I was wearing 48 pants, but at peak I had gone to 50.

I lost weight over 14 months to 225, but put it back on to 305. Depression, drinking, couch-potatoing...

I got sick of sleep apnea, GE regurg with aspiration (waking up in panic), gasping with 1 flight of stairs, diabetic toe ulcers that made walking any distance impossible, wearing drawstring XXL sweats (why waste money when no clothes look good on ya), and looking at a 10 year lifespan...

Anyway, I felt really wobbly trying to ride a real bike, which was why I had gotten an indoor machine, but it was too boring to contemplate re-doing what I had done again. So I rode short rides, working up to 10 miles, a few times a week. Then I started pushing it. Since I was retired, I had the time.

Last spring-summer, I got into a 5 day routine of 30-40 miles on an MTB. Last May 17, my weight was 292. A month later it was 273. Got down to 245 by August, then had a crash trying to ride a road bike. At first I had to quit riding due to severe wrist pain, but I got a BMX bar for the MTB, which worked wonders. Later I put a MTB flat bar on my road bike.

Anyway, I was 242 at Christmas. I resolved to ride as much in the winter as possible, which was arduous but fun, and tried (not fully successfully due to motivational issues) to do indoor training on inclement days.

My weight dropped below the obesity threshold in April (227).

After breaking 220 in mid-May, I got a new road bike, after test-riding it for 2 hours, and it felt comfortable and confidence-inspiring even in blustery Kansas winds.

I've been riding 6-7 days a week, 22-24 hours for the past month. Weight loss has been gradual, but consistent 1.5-2.5 pounds per week. I hope to accelerate it a bit with the great riding weather (at least in AM, before afternoon heat arrives).

I ride slow, because I'm forcing my body to burn fat. I don't usually eat anything on my rides, tho I do carry Cliff bars and Gu if I feel really bonked and occasionally need one. High-performance cycling requires glycogen. When my weight normalizes, then I can work on my speed.

Right now, my weight is what it was last in 1989 at age 36. (I use a "turn back the clock" inspiration for motivation.) I can sleep on my back without obstructing, and on my belly without regurgitating, although years of side-recumbency have ingrained that as a "most comfortable" mode. BP and blood sugars are normal. I'm comfortably wearing 36 (and can pull pants to my navel), and I can close 34s, which I hope to be able to actually wear before summer is out. Last spring, 14 months ago, I could get into a 44, if it had a stretch rear elastic band, otherwise it was a 46.

For all of you who have decided to lose major weight, I don't mean 25 pounds, but 50, 75, 100, or more, just stay focused, balance your intake to have less calories than you burn, if you're making progress but have a setback now and then, stick with the program that's working, and be patient. You can do it. Then stay committed to keeping it off, because going through the program one time is easier than having to repeat it, like a bad class you hated.

    eclectus,

Very well said. My Lowest weigh in this weekend (My weekends have been hell the last week so I weigh before I do what we have to do and then after I get back) is 260lbs weighed just before lunch on Sunday and thats me lost 49lbs since I started this time to lose weight. We ate some sushi last night and I feel urggggh (coke zero also) it was chinese buffet sushi and all I ate there (although wife and I had a delite pizza about 4 hrs earlier and 1hrs worth of grass mowing). Feel as if its sitting in my stomach so need to just focus on the week ahead.

Goal for this week is 2-3 lbs loss for week and hopefully 2 bike rides for week (maybe 20-50 miles in total) at least. Waiting on results of interview from last week to see if I got job back at my old place (in town I live so 12 mile work bike ride woooo) so I dont need to do my 130 miles worth of driving each day.

OK down to 173 this week - and it was not a great food week. Just a bit better than the week before!
So goal was down 7 I made it down 6 to 173. I will take that as success. The way I figure if yOu hit your goal then your goal wasn't high enough. So I will take the failure YEAH!

Thanks Ecelcyus - Well done and well said. :champ2:I am in the 50 -100 pound weight loss amount... and so far have lost about 50. I have about 30 - 40 to go and am definitely taking my time. I feel very hapoy at my size 14 self and hope to shrink this year - but am not putting too much pressure on myself to go there - just maintaining the 50 lb loss is a real accomplishment.

Glad you shared your story and YAY YOU! :champ:

I'd posted a few weeks ago that I'd broken under 300 (just a regular Clyde), but I lamented that I'd pretty much starved myself and that caused problems like dehydration, etc. As I figured I would I gained 6 or 7 pounds when I ate for a few days and drank diet Mt Dew to help with the caffeine fix. However I did weigh this afternoon, and....back to 299, this time without wringing myself out so much. That's a good thing, and I feel better than I did 3 weeks ago too

The next week is gonna be pretty tuff tho - I'm down to 7 cents till payday on Thursday, so I can't exactly pig out at dinner somewhere, but I may be going to the lake this weekend. Have to resist the temptation of too much good beer

    Tom
