My old ride....
When I started up cycling again, I had something, stashed away, hanging in the corner of the garage waiting for its time again. Every once in a while, I'd take it down, admire its lines, throw a leg over, and remember the rides we've been on together. Up, over, and into the hills, cruising the flats, enjoying the club rides, ahhh the memories.
That was also about 12 years ago (or more). Today, the day has come to start bringing it back into the light. Why today? Why, after 12+ years would I bring out this c+v worthy frame out of retirement?
This morning I weighed in at 200 lbs on the nose! This is my gift back to myself. Agreed, finally being able to drop the extra 40 pounds or so I've been lugging around for years is its own reward, hey, you gotta get yourself those little gifts every once in a while.
So here it is, my sweet Italian lugged ride, rescued and built up eons ago from a less than certain future. Love it, hate it, I don't care, it has meaning for me, a bond.
The frame is an early to mid 70's (at least that's my guess with the lack of braze ons, and a 120 mm rear spacing) Fiorelli. The paint was in bad shape when I picked it up, so the paint job it sports now is a homebrew rattlecan paint job. Drive train is mostly Shimano 105 (52/42 chainrings, 14/28 6spd freewheel in the back), Suntour symmetric shifters (interesting design, the front derailleur would trim automatically when shifting in the back), Shimano 600 brakes, running 700x21-23c sewups.
New sewups are on the way, not sure how well these have aged over the years, as well as brake pads, and a few other odds and ends to get it road worthy again.
Oh, and even though I'm dipping below the 200 lb barrier, at over 6 ft, I'm sure to be a clyde for life.

Cool splatter effect(or is it more of a marble?)! I have a thing for Italian lugged Columbus, so I totally understand,

More of a splatter effect than a marble. I think the "kit" was marketed as a marbleizing kit though.
