Saw a Doc about my knee

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the knee pain I started experiencing all of a sudden. I got a lot of good info and suggestions from forum members.

I had an appointment with a sports medicine specialist yesterday morning. The appointment began with an x-ray and then an examination by doctor. According to him, the x-ray looked good. After poking, prodding and rotating my knee, he said that I have quad tendonitis.

He wants me to begin physical therapy. I am supposed to go twice a week for six weeks.

I'm hopeful that the physical therapists can develop a plan that can get me back in the saddle full time.

Google up a book called "The Pain Free Runner" Whether you run or not this system has helped me several times to prevent or recover from a minor injury.

Right now I'm experiencing some pain under my left kneecap when I start a run. About 2-3 minutes into the run the pain is gone so I knew it a muscle that was stretching out relieving the pain.

Got my trusty book and sure enough found a muscle knotted where the book said and worked the muscle out (painful) and things have improved considerably.

Too much invasive stuff going on out there by doctors. But that's what they get paid to do. Sounds like yours is good and not hot to trot to open you up.

Cranks too short? What is the length on your cranks, what is your inseam in cm (measured with a broom handle pulled upward to the point of being uncomfortable)?
