Dang, off the bike for a week.....

....thanks to an ingrown toenail!!!!!! 28 years ago a Navy Dr. told me I would never have to worry about them ever again. He was right about my left foot, but my right big toe rebeled and I had to have one "removed" Friday. This evil little begger decided to turn 90 degrees and grow straight DOWN into my toe.

Anyway folks, take care of your feet or its a merry go round of pain!!!!!

Amen BK. It is rather painful to dig those bad boys out. I don't like docs so I keep a close eye on that kinda stuff. Plus I am diabetic and have to keep a close eye on that stuff anyway.

I had a bone spur on my big toe a few years back. Part of the toe nail looked like a claw. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Just cut the toe part off some old sneakers and go ride. My wonderfull Mother did that for me after I had one cut out when I was 13 so I could still ride my bike to school.

Hey bro! I went to see a Dr. about riding and was advised not to ride. That was early spring and on a whim a couple weeks ago I took the bike out to just try it out and my back had no complaints what so ever. So I took it to my LBS for a check up and have been SLOWLY riding around. It would seem that the Dr. was just CYOA. So I got another Dr. This one's advise is, "Your body will tell you when it's had enough."

So I'm building up miles and when I hit a couple hours in the saddle at a time I'll start very slowly increasing intensity. Hoping to do a ride for Cancer in August. Right now I'm loving it, except for the dang toe!!!

Yea, took me a long time to find a Doc that gave me the same advice. Now if I could just get the body to STFU I'd be golden.

I'm still holding out for the Austin Livestrong in October. I figure I'll start and just go until either I flop over or they pull me off the course.

Yeah, my legs think I've totally lost my mind. I've been sticking with the walk/bike paths here and am going to shoot for my first 10 mile ride this weekend.

Somehow I get the feeling you'll cross the finish line and won't be the last one either.

I hope to camp the Katy Trail in October, 6 days 236 miles, all Rails to Trails paths.
