Mixing Up The Commute
I made a slight change to my commute home that added about half a mile, but a bigger chunk of hill. It really gets me churning a lot harder than the original route. I know I got really accustomed to the old route, knowing what gear to use, how hard I needed to pedal, and more importantly I think my body knew how long the pain would last.
The new path is a bit more challenging, but since the hill profile is different I don't have that 'comfortable shoe' feeling when I ride it. I have several different hills I can go up. I may start doing this more often just to mix things up. When you live on the top of a mountain you have to go up hill one way or another if you want to get home!
I attached an image of the original profile vs the new one.
