Too heavy for a PUCH Cavalier?
 

Title says it all, I have an opportunity to pick up an old PUCH Cavalier for almost nothing and just for fun I got myself interested, my question is will this bike hold up to a 330# fella? of course I would get some wheels and tires for it but would the frame be ok for a larger stature person? Thanks for any opinions or info guys and gals.

This may be better answered in the vintage section but I figured since it was a weight related question I would ask here.

The frame and components will take anything you throw at it. As you noted, the wheels will be your only concern, but it's possible it already has 36 spokes, and at a minimum 32.

The Puch will have no issues with a 330# human, plus you will lose some weight by riding.

If it is really the vintage that I think it is it will have great 36 hole wheels (if they are factory wheels), it may have tubulars, if so you don't want to ride them.

I'd go for it. I've currently got a Puch Cavalier and it's a great bike. It had no problems with me at 290-lbs, I'd be keeping it if only it was in my size, but it will soon be making a trip to Texas.

If it has DT shifters you may want to change the location to an easier to reach location. I'd suggest bar end shifters or stem shifters.
