Riding with My Clyde Racer Buddy (from the shop)!
Mark is a great mechanic, best I've run across inteh 13 years that I've been riding. Guy has fixed several mess-ups caused by other mechanics. He's the guy that talked me into building my own wheels. Before I met Mark, I couldn't find a local builder or shot that could build a set that lasted more than a year or 3000 miles. So Mark mentions Deep V's and builds a set for me. 3 years later, still running true, ended up selling the bike. I know the guy and wheels are still fine. He doesn't ride much though, but 13 years!.
Mark does TT races and from what I understand used to race pretty hard in local crits. I've seen him ride and he rides pretty darn hard for a clyde racer. After he built the V's, I knew he knew his stuff! He has since given me good advice on wheels and checks the tension for me if I need. I asked about purchasing a tensionmeter but he said ,"don't worry about it, bring them in and I'll check 'em for ya!". Good guy!
I was in the shop last week when Mark had mentioned an early Wed morn ride. I figured what the heck, I'll give it a whirl. So we met on DayCreek and some other street. I met Les there before Mark arrived, so we chatted a bit. Well maybe it was me chatting! I hadn't met Les before but he seemed like a nice dude. Turns out he's done the "King of the Mountains" series, good climber too.
Mark arrive so we headed up to Glen Helen Park. Nice warm day but early so it wasn't so bad. Had a good ride and really happy to find out that both are really safe riders. I've ridden with Mark before and know he's an experience rider. Happy to see Les was pretty darn good too! I know I'm too old to risk what this old bod has left!
Well, I had a great time. So I'll be out ther next Wed morning. I'm the type that finds small groups a little more comfy! Great riding with these guys!
