Commando or not?

Hmm...

When wearing the padded bike pants of choice, should underwear be worn with them? Does it interfere with the chamois creme if you do choose to wear underwear?

Chamois creme or not, the shorts are designed so that one does not have seams in areas that will irritate or cut the skin. If you use undies, you are defeating the purpose of cycling shorts.

You don't wear underwear with riding shorts. The underwear doesn't wick moisture away from you as well with the underwear on and the underwear has seam lines in places you don't want seam lines.

I wear undies (boxer undies, not those butt hugging whitey tightys) and no cream. No problems here.

They are designed to be against your skin. Commando for sure.

+1 to everything said here. Early on I got self conscious and wore my undies. I am not going to go into details except to say it is a bad idea. Commando forever.

Just tuck your junk up out of the way and go commando (if you're a guy).

I told my husband when he got his first pair of cycling shorts that he should wear them without underwear. He scoffed and said that he certainly would not be going commando and proceded to hike up his shorts over his usual tighty whities. I just shrugged - he's a big boy and can make his own decisions. After stubbornly going for many uncomfortable rides with underwear under there and actually getting to the point of bleeding, I suggested again that really...they are designed to be worn next to the skin. He finally agreed to give it a shot and now, no more undies.
